increase temp to increase growth?

If you were looking to get maximum growth out of a bubble tip anemone, would raising the temperature to 82-84 help at all? Does increased temperature increase metabolism, which in turn speed growth?

Obviously frequent feeding and strong lights will help growth. But, all things being equal, will increased temperature increase growth?

Is there any negative side effects of having a temperature in the 82-84 range? Would going up to 85 help even more?

im not an expert, but i run my temp. around 80 all the time because of my anemone. ive noted increased growth in my sps when i started this a couple years ago. so yes i think it does speed the metabolism up.

holding temps at a constant 82-84 isn't necessarily a problem, but if a heater gets stuck on there's a lot less room for the temp to rise before it does become problematic.

Why do you need it to grow any faster than they already do, anyways? Propagation?

Yes, the plan is to propagate them. I would like to have 3 or 4 small heaters in about 80-100 gallons of water. This should lessen the chance of one getting stuck on and increasing the temperatures to dangerous levels.

I say go for it...I'm not aware of anyone truly studying the effects that temperature has on growth rates.

Set up two systems, one at the usual 78-80 and one at 82-84 and see what happens! :D

For the purposes of propagation I wouldn't expect there to be any fish in the system.

There probably will be no fish in the system. As long as there aren't big temperature swings, I don't think it will hurt anything though (fish or anemone). I don't want to waste money on extra heaters and electricity if growth doesn't increase with temperature. I'm guessing someone on these forums has some knowledge about this.

84 is getting maybe to hot for fishys though?

84 is NO problem for tropical reef fish. They routinely see temps in the high 80s in nature

I'm not trying to cause the anemone stress though. Actually, it's just the opposite. I'm trying to make it so comfortable that it grows very fast.
