Interzoo 2008- NEW!

Question. I have a 90g and have been looking into the Tunze 6055s because of the small footprint. Does anyone know what the flow pattern is like on these? Is is more directional than the 6101s or is it the same? I like these newer versions, but they won't be out for a while and I am looking to buy soon. Also, suggestions on how many I would need...I currently run 2 Maxi 1200s with Sureflow mods. Thanks!

Fuzznutz, the tunze nano 6055 is directional just like the 6101 but not as wide range due to the size of the outlet. With couple of the 6055, you will have plenty of flow for your reef. The newer version is only applicaple to larger size stream but the nano will stay the same.

As far as recommendation on how many you should get, IMO the minimum is 2 depend on what you are keeping in the tank.

We expect the Mac software to be ready when it is released in the fall.

The 6055 has an 18" by 48" flow pattern at full power. 2 would be the right amount for a 90 but if you are heavily into SPS the stronger flow of the 6101 or 6105 would be preferred.

Okay, I have some SPS, but it is not dominate (although it could get that way :) ) I guess I may have to wait until the 6105 :( BTW what is the flow pattern of the 6105?

come on now you know you can run windows and windows software on your mac.... unless you have the older model...

I use parallels on mine when I need to run windows software so I don't even have to close out of the OSX system.

Same flow pattern as the 6101 but with the directional capabilities of the Nano Streams.

Understood, I ment compared to the 6055...sorry.

Roger and Tunze,

That is probably one of the best posts that I have EVER seen a vendor make! It covers that you care, are growing, and believe in your product and customers. You aren't leaving people hanging you are taking us w/ you.

I love the fact that the steam is going to be remodeled and I HOPE that I can get 1 or 2 to replace my two that I have now. I think I am most excited for the 7096(?) the new multi controller
Amen, and hallelujah.

Roger,

Any thought of not manufacturing in China? Seems like that was the source of a lot of headaches and if I look at the Xwave stuff it looks like they are using your intellectual property. I think people can and will pay a premium for stuff made in Europe if the quality is there, but once something is made in China, even with your brand and quality control in the end it is much easier for the knockoffs to just say it is all the same. I would hate to see Tunze go the way of Aqua Medic.

Not sure if I am reading this wrong but Tunze pumps are NOT made in China. The pumps and electronics are made in Germany. The only parts made in china are the magnets themselves and that in the end is because pretty much every magnet in the world is made by only a few manufacturing plants. The other part is the DC power supplies which are actually made in Hong Kong. If I am wrong on part or missed something I am sure Roger will correct me.

Shawn is correct, we have no intention of manufacturing in China. We discussed it again this year and the only "made in" countries that have the prestige we need are those in Europe and the USA and with the fuel prices now and the price of plastic which is of course made from oil, it is actually a moot point, by the time it ships from China you could get it cheaper from many countries in Europe. If anything you will probably see more "Made in USA" products and components since the dollar is weak right now and it is cheaper for us especially since I can consolidate everything here for shipment back to Germany.

Aww. Too bad older streams can't be adjusted with some sort of attachment. :(

Sorry I was under the impression that the plastic surrounds for the nano streams were made in China

Nope, we own all our molds and all the parts are produced in Europe, most at the factory in Germany but during a pinch we do farm some of it out to other molders in Western Europe. We have only ever sourced three parts from China, the power supplies of the Electronic Streams, the magnets in all the holders and drive assemblies and the shaft on the first production run of Nano Streams. Now the shafts are made in Germany because of the quality problems and the remaining two items have no sources outside China.

The nano wavebox looks great :) One question, the tank size requirements are listed in volume - but it seems to me the limiting factor with the current wavebox is the dimensional length of the tank, not the volume. For example I can get a wave effect using my wavebox in my 75g (48" length) but not my 115g cube (30" length). Any idea of what the minimum tank length will be for the nano wavebox? I am sort of assuming that the minimum length will remain the same between the 6212 and the 6206 models, assuming that 39g is referring to a 36" tank length?

Wow!
Love the look of the Stream 2. I have always thought that a spherical shape was less intrusive/more appealling to the eye than the old Stream shape, which is why I have 4 6055's. If I had only waited!

I assume that the 7096 will work with the 6055's the same as the Stream 2?

I can't wait to see how the Silence recirculation pump measures up against the Eheim 1260/1262 and the Oceanrunner 2500/3500 for efficency, noise level, price, and reliability.

Can you control the new stream2's with the Profilux controllers? Looks like Im waiting another 6months for my streams if they can..

Thanks
BJ
