Introducing The GHL/Fauna Marin Balling Method System

In the coming weeks we will be launching the Fauna Marin Balling system utilising the GHL ProfiLux range of dosing pumps.

The use of balling salts is now widely respected as the most effective way of dosing a marine system accurately with the required amount of essential minerals (calcium, magnesium, carbonates as well as trace elements)

Used in conjunction with a 3 stage GHL dosing pump system whether this being the new stand alone devise for non ProfiLux users or the intergrated GHL dosing pump assembly, this amalgamation of products makes the use of this advanced system easy for all to use.

We will be launching starter kit packages very soon which will include the GHL dosing stations and Fauna balling salts required.

If you require more info on the balling method please drop into the Fauna marin forum

I can't wait to put this into use. I just checked out the manual and will definitely be using it.

I will of course have to customize it to work along side my Calcium reactor, I will never give up that!

I can't wait to see this package. I might have to try this method. It looks good in all the reading I have done. It should be pretty simple with the GHL dosing pumps.

Here is the stand alone dosing module we will be launching with the Fauna Marin balling method. The unit that comes with the balling salts is the 3 station module that of course can be upgraded by adding a fourth pump if or when required

The station has a built on controller so you do not need to have a ProfiLux to use it (although if you dont have a ProfiLux controller why not :) )

This great unit will be released on the 1st July.

of course if you already have a GHL dosing station run via your ProfiLux you can utilise its great functionality in the use of the highly successful balling method of essential mineral additives.

Just to clarify...for me :), is this method intended to compliment or replace a calcium reactor on systems that have a decent sized demand for Ca and Alk?

Thanks,
Sean

Hi

Yes this methode replace any calciumreactor

In Germany around of 80 % of all reefers use this easy System

Together with the Dosing Computer you can controll every water parameter / calcium , Magnesium , dkH/Meq/Liter exactly

That is your answer, exactly, this is the huge difference between using a calcium reactor and the balling method.

The balling method will dose all your required and important additives equally as required where as a clacium reactor will only effect your calcium.

Take into account also the cost of the highly suffisticated reactors on the market and you will soon see why the balling method is far superior and more faciured in Europe than just the use of a calcium reactor :)

Hmmm... sounds really tempting:) How will the Profilux adjust the levels as needed? I assume we'll need some sort of Mg, Ca, dkH probes to measure it on a consistent level?
Wei

the GHL will not control the paremters, if you have a dosing pump then you set the doser to the required level of dosing that you tank requires this will take about a week to get the correct levels.

of course the GHl ProfiLux will do the controlling for you or the new GHL stand alone doser will also

Sean,
You beat me to it. I liked the idea of the balling method and the tanks i have seen using this method. I still might give it a try.

weekly testing is a standard requirement for any system so you are not doing anything extra or different, so it really is a no brainer really with huge benefits.

Testing? Uhhh...:D

I do 50% water changes with Natural Salt Water weekly....I have tested Ca and Alk once in the last 3 years lol.

Btw, it was within parameters that one time to. ;)

Won't be a problem to start testing again though...Salifert still the top dog in test kits?

Over years maybe...but I weigh cost effectiveness -v- convenience and automation.

I am getting cranky in my 30's. :D

its not just a case of your parameters reading ok its a matter of providing your corals the exact amount of nutrients as they require them not relying on depletion over top up. This system allows you to do all nutrient dosing in an easy automated way, giving corals what they need when they need it

Help me out with a bit of clarification here please.

Although I am interested in the system, and have seen great results from European tanks, please clarify what and how it does anything different than a properly set up Ca Reactor? ( I will also read some threads surrounding this)

My Ca reactor has been tuned in solid for the last 8 months and provides Ca, Alk, and Mag consistently throughout the day with the only variation being the normal alk swing AM to PM that any system will contend with.

Is there perhaps a benefit to the products themselves that are being used?

Please dont get me wrong, I am very interested in it, I would love to get rid of the 20# cylinder in my living room, and I really enjoy hooking things up to my Profilux :D .

I am just looking for a clarification of what this can do that my current set up doesnt already.

Thanks!
