Is Adobe Photoshop 5 worth the money?

I have a canon rebel xt and it came with arcsoft photo studio. I was told that I need to go buy adobe photoshop 5 because it is soooo much better. I don't really trust the guy who told me, he tends to ooooooooover exagerate. So my question is adobe photoshop worth the money?

Photoshop 5 is VERY old software.

Photoshop CS3 (10) was just announced. It is the benchmark image editing software but it's very expensive.

Photoshop Elements 5 might be what he was talking about. It's a good program with many of the features of the full product.

Yes he was talking about the photoshop elements 5.... I looked up to see how much the CS3 was, and there is no way I am paying more for photoshop then I did my camera...

get elements 5 its worth the money I own it and am very pleased with it now I would rather have CS3 but like you dont have the cash yet to spend more than on my camera i to own the Rebel XT

Just to let you know. You can download a full version of photoshop from Adobe.com . It expires after a while, but it would give you a good idea of what is offered.

Look into Corel products. I have played around with them for editing them and like them alot. Also I have some graphics deisgn company my business works with, and thats all they use. Everything turns out great.
