Is it a mille?

Just got this frag from a buddy yesterday. I don't have a large colony to get a pic from though. :( I took this with a flash also. But even with flash it's coloration is awesome. He was told his original frag was a mille but it doesn't seem to look have a structure quite like my purple/pink mille i.e. the polyps aren't quite as hairy and the the skeleton seems more like some other acro's. So I thought I'd throw it out here and see what others think.

give it a few days. it may open up like a milli. i think that the way the polyps are layed out and structured kinda resembles a milli.

mabe Acropora monticulosa?

my best ID would be milli or monticulosa

Thats a Millepora. When it grows some the polyps will probably start to extend. I have this two tone red green mille I just got that has similar PE. Just give it a while.:)

when you do something to a millie that makes it stop growing for a while (like fragging), it usually thickens up but doesn't get any longer. when it does this, it usually loses it's distinct lip-shaped coralites which are a better feature to go by than polyps. but once it starts growing again they should come back.

this is a ORA blue millie, that is probably very similar to yours (if not the same coral since ORAs get around). my current lights make it look purple though. i had just futzed with it before taking the pic, so you can see the lip-shaped coralites i was referring to.

Dont think its a mille. Either a staghorn (hard to say what specifically because its kinda small) or a humilis

Yeah its really too hard to say from a small frag..

For some reason though I sortof thought it was similar in structure to a samenosis "I think they call it" Like a Humilis with a pointier tip.. ;)

Whatever it is I really like the coloration..
