I didn't take Alton's reply to be in a kind manner, personally I after reading through some of the stuff he posts in other threads he seems to be kinda of a "bully".

Either way, in this case I know I am right, he is wrong. I took his " you must be bored with life" comment as an insult so, yeah. Its pretty obvious he is a bit sore about being WRONG.

I like the way the suppliers sell them rare and expensive stuff so they can fleece the celebrity (who mostly anyone outside of the US have never heard of) clients more.
But it does annoy me when they put fish in tanks that aren't suitable. Shaqs grouper tank was tiny and the people who asked for alligators and sharks should have been told they were idiots.

The truth is that we are not engaged in a popular or well understood hobby. This show does help create an awareness of the potential beautiful captive oceans that people could have in their homes and that's a good thing IMO.

Maybe it's because I'm looking to sell my house with my 380g built in tank. It could become a negative selling point - but anyone who's watched the show may think twice about dismissing it as poor value... "Maybe"

I know myself, and most people on here probably can care less how it is pronounced That is why, when I purchase coral at the LFS, I just ask for them by color lol.

The SmileMore tank from Friday's show is still up and running. You can see it in many of his videos.

I got the impression that that guy (at 30, I feel out of touch, I didn't know him) was more of a hobbyist than most of the "celebs" featured on the show. He had a really nice reef tank inside of his house and actually wanted a fish-only because he knew many wouldn't work with his corals. The guy had a clown trigger tattoo. Granted, he referred to "man-eaters," too many times and was overall annoying, but he at least knew a little about compatibility.

I know that these tanks are almost certainly professionally maintained, but the "SmileMore" guy was an actual hobbyist. A lot of the people on the show probably get bored and move on to the next fad/impulse which is why I'm sure they get broken down so quickly.

I like the show, the Smile More is one of the better episodes for reasons stated, this one went to someone who obviously knew the hobby and it was fun, that's entertainment.

You mean scientific names not all are latin. But I get what you are saying.

Give it a rest. Been in this hobby and business since 1965, people pronounce all the various Latin names differently. It's harmless. And while we're at it, this thread is about TANKED. Quit hijacking the thread.
