I was just wondering if there was a way you can force an anoneome to host a clown fish? I got a background on my tank and they are tryin to get to the coral and nems in the background so I was thinking of switching it backwards to blue. The clowns go in the cornor where the nem is and they sleep there by they r interested in the coral/nem there.

there really isn't a good way to force anything here.
They will take to a natural host match faster, but many accept alternatives.
Percs natural hosts nems are mag, gig, and crispa.
Do you know what nem you have?

Take the anemone out of the tank, take the fish out of the tank. Put them in an extremely small container and attach an air line. And wait about 20 minutes. This works well most of the time.

do not force any clown into an anemone, depending on the type of anemone the sting can kill the clownfish, just let the clown decide when to go into the anemone.

Agree, they need to adapt to nem sting cells, forcing by close proximity could end in death.

This. Excellent advice from someone who knows a lot about clownfish!

why would you want to force any animal to do something against its own will, and not to mention it may very well resolve in death....

You may want to make a clownfish uneasy so he seek protection by an anemone, like put your hand in your tank and wave it around a little. This the the most I would do to encourage clown fish to go into an anemone.

Never push an anemone to host a clownfish. You run the risk of killing the clownfish from the anemone's stinging cells. Clowns need to build up a protective coating to tolerate the nems stings. Plus, it's really a crapshoot if a clownfish will even take to any nem. I've had it take 15 minutes, a few months, & it never happened to another pair. Just sit back & let them get adjusted to it on their own timeframe.

can someone ID my clownfish and tell me if they can host a long tentacles anemone?

My clowns would just bite me. Don't try anything. Leave the clowns alone. If they decide to go to a nem, they will. If not, they won't. They will still breed if they pair up. They may decide to spend their time in leathers or mushrooms. Mine used to hang in AOG zoas. They lived in a huge leather for 3 years till it was decimated. They choose where they go.
