" Fish for Sale

Unfortunately, I had to remove your For Sale post. For Sale threads are only allowed in the specific selling forums or within the club forums. New members must contribute to the Reef Central community before using our resources to sell their items.

That means being a member for longer than 90 days and having achieved a 50 post count.

Thanks for your cooperation."

I have seen countless people banned for posting fs items in club forums and they had well over 50 posts.

Just thought I would share some thoughts.

People get warned (not banned) if they don't meet the minimum requirements to sell. If they get banned, it's because of something else, not always public. ;)

I'm willing to bet they were either repeat offenders or didn't handle the private communications with the mods with tact. I've seen the argument a lot of times over the years. It always comes out that there was a good reason for a ban. (or to turn a probation into a ban)

hey no prob juiceco, its not you its just the principal.

Satori, I understand what your saying completely. But I think sometimes they are a little to ridiculous about how things are handled, percieved or not.

So you can't post things for sale in the local forums? I thought that was one of the main reasons for having a local forum, so you can trade and sell stuff between the hobbyists in the area.

You can, if one of these two things happens:

1) You've been a member for more than 90 days and you have more than 50 posts.

OR

2) The mods don't see it. (or nobody reports it)

That message has nothing to do with banning.

Posts in the buying/selling forums as well as a few others don't count towards your total. The value of Reef Central is its information. When you contribute to that value you get rewarded by having features and options turned on.

People get banned when they fail to adhere to the rules that they agreed to when they created their accounts here. Unless there is prior history there is almost always a conversation that happens before a user is banned. Here's an example of how to get banned:

Moderator: Hey, I saw that you had a XBOX forsale but I had to remove your post. We only allow the selling of reef related items on RC. Thanks

User: $^%#$$#@$%@##$ you nazi powermad @#@@#$!!@

Moderator: Have a nice day; elsewhere.

;)

Atleast you didn't get the overly offensive monkey shaking its head.....Got to look at the bright side of things when it comes to the mods around here

A buddy of mine was banned for trying to trade a few reef related items, they accused him of being a corporate conglomerate and banned him when he tried to repost with a little further clarification. He let me read his letter from RC and I have to say I agree there was a power trip going on with the moderator.

So you can trade and sell as long as you have the appropriate number of posts, that clears things up.
