is this gig healthy?

I think you have a FOWLR tank with a lot of big fish and predator fish that produce a lot of waste. I don't think that this anemone, The hardest clownfish hosting anemone to keep will do well in this tank. It look like that it is not having infection at this time. You should move it to a more suitable tank, very high light clean water with high current reeftank.

It is really too bad if this beautiful anemone perish in this tank, which is not suitable for it.

I agree with Minh. You have some big aggressive fish in there. Lionfish really have no place in a reef tank. Some puffers are known to eat anemones. I think the gigantea looks really good where it is - and it looks healthy - but you need to decide what type of tank you want to keep and go one way or the other.

Couldn't have said it better myself. You're more than likely going to encounter some problems in the near future. I wouldn't think it's worth it to risk such a beautiful animal that is so hard to come by in captivity. Good luck with whatever you decide and happy reefing :thumbsup:

:lmao::lmao:move your children:lmao::lmao:

I would put an electric fence around the tank if I could. I don't know how many times my daughter knocked down my magnetic frag rack by just looking at it. "Seriously dad, I just pointed at it and it fell off."

looks good wouldn't worry about the clowns over feeding it, it will only eat so much.. imo would give the food to the clowns that it hosts and let them care for it.. much more natural. If it wasn't hosting would feed it 2-3 time a week. good luck looks great! keep up the good work.. mind if I drool a little on it? Move the mp if you can or put a small rock near it with the hopes that ot moves on to the rock an shift it away from the mp.. sure you don't want a gig in 100 parts.

Despite what it appears like, some experts feel that clowns don't actually feed the anemone. According to Fautin & Allen, clowns are taking food back to their home, it just so happens that the home consumes their food.

As long as the Vortech isn't close enough to the gig where if the gig were to stretch its column and physically touch it, then I think you're okay. Just keep an eye on it.

If you thought the tang police were rough, you haven't experienced the gig police. :lol2: I agree with others -- I don't think you'll be able to keep a clean tank with a puffer and lion. Unfortunately it really is one or the other -- a gig tank or a FOWLR/predator tank. Many people would KILL to have a healthy gig. Up until a couple of months ago, I think Minh would've knocked down your door and uprooted your gig. :lol:

ok well i can absolutley understand everyones thoughts i have a the puffer you saw in the video and that lionfish a copperband butterfly a purple tilefish purple tang naso tang and a hippo tang and also some cleaner shrimp and 2 green manderins and a square spot anthias also the tank is 72,2,2 (180g) and also the lion is posted for sale on a local forum and he has been for a couple weeks.. and the video i posted all of the flow was of exept for the return pump for flow ive got 2mp40's and 2 tunze 6115 and a 6205 as for the puffer he has been with me for 5.5 years and has never touched any thing. i know he contributes a alot to the bioload but im only 15 i work everyday almost afterschool at a gocerystore i have to buy my own equipment and fish and my mom will not get rid of the puffer. as for lighting i have 3 250w de mh pendants with 108 wats worth of t-5. also the skimmer is a vertex in280.

I'm glad that you understand the concern. As long as you can keep your water parameters in check (and stable) with frequent water changes, and keep a close eye on the puffer, then I think you should be fine. Lighting and flow are perfect for a gig.

Well the nem is doing better and better every day he's been in our tank for 12 days now haven't seen him deflate yet he has very good feeding response but he has moved about 4 inches to the right and lower Inthe tank out of he flow he is getting very little flow where he is but he is happy is thus okay? Or do they need flow wether they like it or not? And he just ate ate before I took these pics so he's not open as much as normal.. And you can't tell but the tentacles by the mouth are a good one inch during the day and yes I know two differnet types of clowns .. They've been together for almost 4 years and used to share the same nem

You anemone does not seem to recover it's zooxanthellae as quickly as it should. From the last pict, the brown area does not seem to spread any from the picture at the LFS.
Good luck with him.

Alright so thought i would just post an update on my nem he continues to do good & has moved about 4 inches to the right and have not seen him deflate yet this sunday will be the 3 week mark. He does get a tiny bit smaller at night but all of my other haddonis used to do the same this vid was right before the lights went out he is under a SE 250watt 10k bulb but it seems as though he does not like flow he move right after i took out the 1 one of the MP40's and cleaned it he moved 4 days ao now but here is an update vid. i dont know if you can see but the tentacles b the mouth are quite long longer the the outer ones.
