Is this Ich?

Hey Everyone,

I have a Copperband Butterfly that has just today developed some white spots on its tailfins. It seems to point toward Ich becaue he also has been rubbing up against the LR some and just generally acting funny (Darting around and such).

Here is a pic, can anyone tell me if this is Ich or some other disease? Below it is another pic of before the spots appeared.

Thanks,
Ben

The spots look to big to be ich. I think it's Lymphocystis. It is viral in nature, no treatment available except good nutrition. Try and post a clearer pic if you can. Ich looks like salt grains covering the body. Lympho similiar in appearance to crypto. But lympho affects the fins and tail.

It's still hard to tell what he has. Fish usually don't rub with Lympho. If you think it's ich, then remove to quarantine and treat for ich. If the fish is still eating, then soak the food in garlic extreme for 20 min.

frozen brine may not have enough nutritional value. You may wan't to soak it with selcon or try mysis and/or bloodworm

I've been feeding them mostly frozen brine shrimp. Is there something else I should be using?

Frozen brine is good to get a fish to start to eat, but do not stop at brine shrimp. As soon as possible get it to eat other frozen food.

Would Lymphocystis cause the fish to rub up agains the rocks like it is itching its skin?

IMO rubbing against rock is telltale of skin parasites.
