Is this the exciting future of Live Rock? Must See!!!

I was in your neighborhood today. Visited Honeymoon Island. I showed my family your harvesting video in St. John's Bay(?). They were impressed. They live in Trinity and I think I've convince do them to do a tank. How do you handle local purchases?

Nice islands huh? St. Joseph Sound is the name of the water way in that area. You were probably at Hurricane pass which in 1920 a storm split the one big island into two seperate islands, Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island. Both are beautiful islands with clear visibility, sugar white sand and excellent fishing.

I suggest pointing your family to The Tampa Bay Reef Club on here, but definitely get your rock from Richard. Diving tomorrow.

You're welcome. I hear you. Crazy times we live in. Fortunately most of Florida is still the slow life along the coast.

Okay I still don't have pics but here is my review a little over a month in. This rock is AWESOME, really just amazing. It has the color, the diversity, the shape...really...it has everything going for it. I went through no cycle, no die off, and have experienced basically no symptoms of a new tank. I can not recommend this enough to anyone. I have several friends who will definitely be using this 2.1 rock on there next setup.

I transferred several pistol shrimp to my fuge but I have at least two left in the display. They are not to bothersome though.

Mine clicks constantly. I have not found a mantis yet, only pistol shrimp. Lots of crabs, removed most of them, still 3-4 left. Still well worth it.

so what's making the clicking sound the crags or the mantis?
any trip and tricks for dealing with them?

I was thinking of setting up a 20L for the rock as a temp. holding tank to try to catch the lil buggers...

I dipped the rocks and shook em around a bit before adding them to the tank and found a few but still have some. I doubt I have mantis shrimp, they would peak out. I did catch a couple in the display right after adding the rock. My clicking is coming from pistol shrimp.

I did the exact same thing as the gentleman above me. I put about 5 gallons of SW in a bucket, dipped each rock in, then shook and banged it's guts out. Then I visually inspected everything as much as possible with a bright flashlight. (Actually my sure fire light from my pistol.)

After that I was kind of able to pick through the critters and decide their fates.

Even after all that, I still have a lot of loud clicking. I can't find the culprit, which to me means pistol shrimp. Most of the time you can catch a mantis out for a hunting stroll whereas pistols are much more reclusive. Plus IME size for size pistol shrimp are much louder than a mantis. The sheer volume of the clicks coming from my tank would have to come from a pretty decent sized mantis. Probably big enough that it would not evade a months worth of scrutiny.

Not that it's impossible, I've heard some alarmingly loud mantis (mantises? Mantisi?) in the past.

But as the old saying goes. "If I was a bettin man"...

I can say only great things on Richard and TBSW, my rock is great my tank cycled after a week I have a clicking noise but its very dim and cant find where is located. Some pictures of my tank yo can see the diffrenece between others live rock and TBSW:

Unless your tank is in the bedroom or something, no need to remove pistols. They don't hurt anything. I actually like hearing that sound once in a while. :)
