When you dive flag looks like a piece of plywood

When you dive flag looks like a piece of plywood

you should stay in bed.......as I had 3250# of 2.1 on the boat...the weather man lied, as did the buoy report...and it was rough as HECK out there today....

was blowing so hard...and 3-5 foot seas with some bigger ones that that rolling in with white caps...the bow of the boat was going under with each wave....

needless to say...I got the rock off in record time...and proceeded to get more rock and sand than I ever have in one trip...as it calmed down a bit after noon...and I took advantage of the 89 degree weather....like the last summer dive day...got real good and sunburned today!

Still summer weather diving today 12/11/15

Still summer weather diving today 12/11/15

Was amazing weather and diving yesterday. Still t-shirt and shorts weather even at daybreak. Ocean was flat like a lake, and so clear I could see the fish and rocks on the bottom from the boat!

Days like this in the winter are few and far between!

was just like a lake heading out to the aquaculture site.

and the same way when onsite getting ready to dive!

was so nice I overloaded the boat and came in like a barge.... LOL

Wonder how long it would take me to drive down and go diving with you from Sacramento, Ca :) That water looks so much warmer than Monterey and I have never dove in your neck of the woods... :(

I always like the updates in this thread.

And if everything goes right........

Hell yeah. If we have top to bottom viz like you did yesterday it's going to be awesome!!!

I get to test out the new GoPro rig I made. Fully equipped with an AR15 grip, aluminum table and LocLine light mounts with both white and UV lights. :)

Just need a new name for her. The name "Gulf Lander" doesn't work for this rig. Perhaps the "Gulf Explorer" or "Gulf Hubble" to stick with the NASA theme. Haha

Richard, was the water green or blue? I have a couple filters I can try out too.

Lol, I am from Stockton before I moved to Tampa, heck in the summer our water can get to about 84 degrees! When I was a teen I lived near isla vista / Santa Barbara. Florida is freaking great swimming most of the year!

Thanks again Richard. Another dive under my belt. I'm getting better evey time I dive and your site is perfect for a newer diver. I greatly appreciate that.

Just looked at the video and it looks great!!! The current was ripping pretty hard which you'll see by the particles zipping by me in the water column. All of the rock is looking phenomenal. Super fishy today and fantastic viz. I got about 30 minutes of video to edit, so bare with me.

I will say this guys, Richard has created a reef. It's pretty awesome just from a environmental perspective. A lot of the video today is of newer 2.1 and Pukani rock, but I swam off those piles and the reef building corals are building. Pretty cool to see hard corals popping up in the middle of what originally was an underwater desert. Next time I'll get some video of his oldest stuff on the North side which of course is full grown, but Tampa Bay is on at 1 so we had to get in. Blame Jameis! Go Bucs! Haha

Also, I'll add a seperate video of a natural reef I dove a month ago just north of Richards aquaculture site to give everyone a view of what a typical Gulf reef looks like.

Oh, and for you California/Northwest or Northeast divers... Water temp was 66 F in a 3 mil suit in December and it felt great! :D
