You guys get me all excited about the new tank :). Too bad, i cant move till next summer. If everything goes as plan, my mini ocean should be up and running by next X-mas (Just running, no fish).

Ed, your tank such a motivation booster. You need to post more picture of the corals and fishie. At least i get to enjoy the look of your tank while waiting on my move....

dphinsx, i know what you mean. I do need to get more fish and its on my things to do. I've been buying more corals but have been on the lookout for any unique fish. Im scared to buy fish because they are more of a risk. I dont want to buy any tangs as I want this tank to be unique. The only tang I would probably ever buy again is the Achilles.

jarhead, what was your original screen name? I havent posted pics of my corals/fish since I dont want to bore anyone with such a premature tank. I know I will in a year though. ;)

jnarowe, thank you. I never did take pics of this side shot until now. I wanted to open the front door because letting outside light in the room really brings out the colors compared to just turning on the lights in the house.

Maximus, I love the spread. This is the reason i chose the Spectra a long time ago. I knew it had wide reflectors and the bulbs were SE. This told me that it would be a perfect combination for a 40" wide tank. I have no dark spots in my tank. The fixture is also a bit wider than your common fixture to accomodate the wider reflectors and T5's.

reefsociety, thank you.

is that a red lobo under the red spotlight?

the lighting is really great.

Yes it is. The red spotlight looks better under pinks though. Doesnt help the reds.

Good to know about the spread. I am having the hardest time with my light decision. I have narrowed it down to the Gieseman Infinity's (2x250 d/e hqi w/4-t5's) or the Planet Elos 2's. What do you think about the quality of the Giesemann units? I would just hate to run into warranty issues. Are the ballasts Ice-Cap by chance? Thanks Edward.

The quality is top notch. It is built solid. You will definitely get your money's worth. I dont think they are ice cap ballasts since lowerster changed his out to Ice Cap's. I dont see a need to change mine out. If you get 250's, i would go with the Magnetic ballasts to get you that extra punch. I used the Kill a watt meter that sloval let me borrow and they were at 300 plus watts each.

Just so you know your little red house gives a bad link. You have one to many "http://" and the second set has no ":"

(it comes up as http://http://www.islaescondido.com/)

You might want to fix it so others can enjoy your blog.
Keep up the good work. Always looking forward to more updates and pics!

:D

"anytime soon" or "not anytime soon"? When is their tank tour? I'd love to attend that event if I can get enough notice.

I'm on board for that!!!:D

Happy thanksgiving to you and your family invincible.

I just got my tank delivered yesterday so instead of eating turkey I will be busy plumbing.

Triton, thanks for the heads up. I have fixed it now. Glad to see you are enjoying it.

Servo/melev, we need to do a Texas wide Tank Tour! :) The biggest tank tour ever. ;)

ycn, that was very generous of you. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family as well. Im glad to see you got your tank. Post pics soon! Oh and your not alone.. Im just doing simple maintenance today like scrubbing down my BB bottom, blowing off the rocks of any detritus and a water change. :) Nothing as big as your project, but something to keep the tank clean and healthy.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family E.

Just checked out the square space, the tunzes are great. what is the plan for the Grey Poma. solitary confinement?? Marshal's great w/ juvenile corrections :D

chad

Ed, he doesn't have any big project unless you consider cutting PVC is big a project :)...

He is very anxious to wait till tomorrow so someone can come over and hook up the plumbing for him... hehehehe

Thank you Chad!

I will most likely sell the Poma. He was a very good healthy fish, but it was him against my corals. :) He's in my sump now in solitary. I wanted to add more fish because of a recent comment saying my tank look sort of stale, but it looks like this fish wont be staying and need to look around for some others. That was a good laugh about Marshall! :) :)

And yes, just purchased another Tunze since I loved the 6201 very much. It's a whirlpool in my tank. :) It definitely beats having a closed loop. I've learned that a closed loop is really good for a chiller, but other than that the 6201 has an awesome spread of flow.

Hey, do you have a Reef Blower yet?

This is an MJ 1200 modded by Dahn Nguyen, with a piece of pipe fitted over the end. It is wicked powerful and will strip algae right off the glass. I use this in my tank with superb results.

:lolspin:

Send him over Big E. I'll introduce him to a few of the "fellas"

Chad, you smarta$$:hammer:
