13, you can call me Edward. No problem there! These fish are teh smallest they come i suppose. Some do follow each other around, but no casualties yet. We will see if this happens with my tank. It's pretty wide so i hope they all get alone.

i hope they get along too. They look like a bunch of smurfs circling their tree house. Are you planning on adding any angels soon? I just love angels.

p.s: What happened to your school of Threadfin Cardinals?

Invincible, I got to say this tank is sweeet!!!! I don't know how you went through with it. With 300G rimless and all.

I'm planning a smaller scale version of your tank(not copying exactly of course). That's how much of an inspiration your tank is. It's going to be custom built with dimensions of 36x24x16"H. Two questions I liked answered by you. Do you like the dimensions? If yes, should I keep the height at 16" or increase it to 18"?

Thank you & good luck(like you need it anyways :D)

My question is: when is this going to be TOTM?

Month??!! when is this going to be tank of the year??

13, I still have them. They are just more clear looking.

cantonese, thanks for the nomination!
Maybe one day?

adam, wow, i never knew!!

drama, I was nervous at first, but knowing the reputation Tommy had, it put me to ease knowing it was rimless. I love my dimensions and would never change it. Even if I lost this tank somehow, i would build it the same. 18" would be better for you. 24" woudl be even better!

I think your Buddy James should get a turn as well.:D

I'm definitely going to have a school of them in my next tank. Was in the process of setting up my 220G but i have to scrap that now because i'll be doing my final year in London. I've decided to go with a 4' X 2' X 2' rimless (starphire of course). Wish me luck. I don't know if the local tank makers are skilled enough to be making rimless tanks.

GSM, I agree :)

13, GOOD LUCK! I would ask Elos to send you a tank. It is your safest bet since you are in London.

TOOFLy, I will have to look at my diagrams at home. Will let you know a bit later.

Invincible, are you sure 18" is better because for a width fo 24" and length of 36" for my potential tank, it wont look as much of a shallow tank like yours, especially if I heighten the tank to 24".

13, I'm in London right now and have talked to a few local reefers and apparently the local tank makers are bordering on useless unless you want a completely conventional tank. Apparently external overflow boxes are undoable in England, which I though was interesting considering its almost becoming the standard for tanks in the states. Check out Elos and continental manufacturers from Germany, they have a lot more options and knowledge. Good luck in London and let me know if you want to get in touch with reefers over here.

And as always sick tank and props to invincible... :D

Woops. I'm not in London yet. The reason i scratched my 220G tank build is because i will be going to London within the year. Still stuck in hot and humid Malaysia at the moment. I'm a little surprised that external overflows are un-doable over there though and i seriously doubt Elos would ship here. Even if they did i wouldn't trust local customs with a roll of tissue much less something made out of glass. It would probably arrive in a few million pieces. Sorry for the temp thread hijack Edward.

Back to your work of art now. I have a granduncle who is a priest in Wiscounsin. Got half a mind to take a trip over there to visit him (and take a detour to check your tank and many others out in person). You'd probably have a hard time getting me away from the tank though. Man, i wish i was born in the States.

Hey Edward,
Any regrets with the closed loop? Would you have done it differently if you were to start over (the closed loop)? And lastly does your CL pump add a considerable amount of heat to your system? I only ask because I managed to get rid of my half circle tank and invested in a rimless! I'm going way smaller though; 48x24x24 (120 gal). You're tank is what inspired me to go rimless, so any info and/or advice is greatly appreciated. I'd like to avoid any heat issues, so I'm debating whether to go with a CL or a couple of vortechs. Beautiful tank...it must feel good to know that you've inspired many to go rimless on this end of world. You're a trendsetter!

You might want to research the vortechs in relation to heat issues a little more mate. I've been reading that they can get hot, unless you run them less than 100%, such as in pulse mode.

The heat issues with a Vortech are with the motor which is located outside the tank therefore no heat is transferred to the tank water.

hi invincible,
first of all beautiful tank. im sure that never gets old to hear! its an inspiration to us all especially the not so experianced. How do you like the vortech powerheads? are they worth the cash? ive been plauge with flow issues and would like to scrap all the powerheads ive got and re-engineer a decent flow pattern throughout my tank but dont want to go the wrong route. any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
jsoler

drama, I have the same dimension tank as you are thinking about, only mine is a custom LeeMar 36"x24"x18" tall. I would definately go 18" rather than 16". If I were to do it agian I would go rimless, I have Eurobracing, and I might go 20" tall. but the 18" is really great for what i was looking for. Easy to reach everything and I have a short custom stand so this is a look down tank. Just my 2 cents worth.

Edward, I sure hope those damsels don't get nasty as they grow up. I do love the shoaling effect of having so many in the tank. I have read quite a bit about how good it is to have fish hanging out in the branches of corals.
