It`s All Their Fault!

Took about 50 pictures trying to get a decent one of the powderblue. Here are the best 3 that I wound up with. Hope that you enjoy them.
I have decided to name it Alice, after my favorite high school band, Alice Cooper. I know I just dated myself there. :D

I think he is fast making friends with Marilyn, my flame angel.

The first one would have been the best if it had been in focus :furious:

And a shot of the whole thing. You can see that I have the trim started on the canopy.

Thanks rjwilson37,
I had to go out of town this last week. My wife`s cousin was electrocuted while working on a microwave. He was 18 yrs. old with a baby on the way. Sad to say the least.
So everyone please take note and DO NOT work on microwaves, unless you are qualified.

I will try to post a full tank picture soon, I have alot of catching up on things to do, but will try to get one posted soon.
Upon returning home I noticed a bit of cyano cropping up so I want to get that taken care of first.

Well I tried to get a decent full tank shot. I didn`t have alot of time this evening, so this is the best I could come up with. I know it`s not very good and even with some editing it is still not. So, please forgive my poor photography and editing skills. I may have some free time during the week and will try to get a better one.

Just for comparison here is one from earlier, I didn`t save the date when it was taken, although it`s not more than 2 months ago. Notice the coralline in the one above:)

While I was gone last week, my tanksitter informed me that the chromis I had in qt had died. I was afraid it wasn`t going to make it but gave it my best try.

Thanks Marc,
It is coming along slowly but surely :) I hope to be getting a few frags this week. Hoping to get a nice purple tipped monti along with a few others.

Looking very good.
Thanks, I appreciate it.

Snapped a new full tank shot today. Sorry about the glare.

Hoping to pick up a couple of frags later today. I`ll get a few pics if I do. And I really need to mount that Monti cap :)

I`m probably not going to get much done on the tank or woodwork for the next couple of weeks. Going on Vacation to San Antonio.

I hope to get the canopy at least ready for stain when I get back before Fall semester starts.

I would like to do some kind of a closed loop to get the powerheads out of the tank. Not sure how that I want to go about it though. I have several ideas running around in my head, just not sure which is the best way to go. Please offer up any suggestions that you have to help me out here. If I can`t get enough suggestions here I may make a new thread to discuss it in.

No comments on the closed loop hmmmm........
Guess I will have to post a few macro shots I took today.

Marc, I know you must have an Idea or two for a closed loop. Should I go with one like your 29, an OM super squirt, something else?

Waterkeeper, where is your thread on Water Movement? *boy that`s a loaded title if I ever saw one!! :D*

:beachbum:

I only see two powerheads in the tank currently. The other two white fittings are returns, right?

A super squirt would be nice, but it will have 4 returns. You could use black locline to avoid having more white PVC fittings in your tank. I think the limit on the SS is 1400gph.

There are actually 3 ph`s in the tank, I have 1 hidden in the rockwork, towards the middle of the tank. I have it plugged in along with the ph on the right side, to the timer that controls the right MH. The left ph is plugged into the same timer that contols the left MH. I stagger my MH using a 30 min interval between the two.
The white pvc you see is the return, powered by a mag9.5 running 24/7.
I plugged everything in this way to give a little more random flow, since I have no wavemaker and the tank is somewhat calm at night with only the return pump running. I calculated the flow gph using the one here on rc.
Total losses are 8.27 feet of head pressure, or 3.57 PSI. with a flow rate of 554 GPH. I can run the pump flat out without throttling it back any. AGA rates the megaflow for 600gph. So I think I am pretty close there.
I still have a swqd from the 55 that I flushed out yesterday and it is flowing nicely again just using the garden hose. I know I loose a lot of flow using one, but could adapt it into the current plumping easily enough. At least until I decide whether to go with the OM or something else. May not be worth the hassle of doing it tho. :D
If I do go with the ss I was going to use the grey pvc, with locline. One question I have is should I just run the closed loop pump out of the sump and have some head pressure, or drill a hole in the overflow section.
Also what size pump would I need to get that 1400gph on the ss?
