It`s All Their Fault!

Is it? ;) So which is your main thread, the one that documents your tank? Is it this one? I'm trying to keep track. :D

This is my main thread, just ribbing you :D

I made that thread as it is a different tank. Similar to your seperate thread on the pico:p

Since I confused you Marc, here is a pic of the tank the new fish is in.
Just a standard 55gl. But as you can see it has plenty of room for a few months.

rjwilson37- Thanks, my camera skills leave alot to be desired so I can see where you would think that was some branching rock :D.

Salinity checked in at 1.0245 last evening before top-off so almost there. Things are definitely looking better, I even got industrious and cleaned the back glass ;).

Canopy is almost done, just a bit more trimming to get the last trim parts fitting right, hoping I can get that done this evening after classes.

I made a few changes to the front, instead of hinging upwards, I made it to where the whole thing just slides up and off. I also decided to use magnetic catchs for the door instead of the hidden hinges, thus eliminating more metal from the design, which is part of my overall goal, to have as little metal as possible above the tank.

Woohoo!!!
I just got home from class and walked by the tank and my neon-green candycane is opened up!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so afraid that it was just melting away I kind of gave up on it. Then I read somewhere that sometimes the skeleton will sprout a new baby so I left it in the tank. But I never expected this! :D

Small update:

The salinity issue is under control now. How it got so far off is beyond me. Things are definitely looking better in the tank now.
I added a few new corals last Friday, only to see my Flame Angel go on a nipping spree :( So I had to remove it, which meant taking most of the rock out in the process. It`s new home is the 55 that I had set up to house the queen angel before it died. Hope it likes it because it is staying in there. :D Of course once you take some rock out, no matter how hard you try you can`t get it back the way you had it, so the aquascape is alittle different now also. Not alot, but just a bit, I think I like it better anyway.

Here are a couple of pics I took of a few of the new corals.

A really nice purplish/pink birds nest. Can`t wait for this to grow out.

Some pink-eyed zoa`s

I also got a blue-loisetta and a purple-tipped monti digitata but have yet to get a good photo of them. I`ll post some of them later on.

Been painting and staining the canopy, so work continues there. Have the inside all done. I used a coat of Kilz primer followed by Flat-White appliance epoxy. Turned out very nice I think.
I have a couple coats of stain of the outside, but it needs a couple more before I am done.

And on we go..................................................................

It`s been some time since I posted an update. This semester has been extremely hectic. I was finally able to take a photo of the completed canopy tonight. Only had time to take and post one.

Will try to get a few more with the front and door off tomorrow. I made a few revisions to it before I stained.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I`ve actually had the canopy done for a month or so. Just haven`t had the time to take and post pics. And the next 2 weeks are going to be more of the same. Finals and papers due..ugggggghhhhh!
Then it`s a break of 3 weeks or so and I will start the last semester of classes to graduate in May. Whoa it`s been a long road.
Anyhow enough about all that I know what you all really want to see is more pics of the canopy, so here are a few I took today.

Hope you like.

Since the last one was of the canopy all closed here is one with the feeding door off. It`s held on by magnetic catchs. Just grab and pull :)

This is is with the entire front off. Just lift up and out and it`s off ;)

This is how I attached it to the frame. NO METAL :D

I found out yesterday that I have a nitrate problem. :( I noticed last week that most of my zoo`s have not opened and some are possibly gone for good. My test kit was reading 0, so I took a sample to my lfs and it was off the scale using a Salifert. Did a 25gl
waterchange today so I will keep after it till it`s under control again. Thinking of trying the Calfo 5gl bucket dsb method too.
