I'm sorry to say that this amazing tank crashed the last summer due to a chiller failure while the owner was on holiday ... 70% of corals are dead .
Then when he was refilling with new saltwater the front glass crashed ....
I think he restarded the whole thing in autumn..

X Timor : thanks for the italian words and hmm yes there are some pretty awesome tanks even in Italy.. this wasn't the only one.

Can you imagine haveing to start that all over. Man, I think I'd be done.

If my tank looked like that and it crashed, I think I would have to kill myself... I don't know if I would be able to start over again...

I know... but he started again... :)

True that! You have to be a big man to have a tank like that one day, only to have a tank with a few small frags the next.

Pfft,

No problem, I have studied Italian as an elective for the past 3 years at university here, so I thought it would be fun to show off a bit of what I learned...

I can only imagine how much that must have sucked when the tank crashed... I think it would be worth it to rebuild though, if you could get the new tank to look like the first. It would definetely prove your ability as a master reefer!

Tim

Is there a link or something to follow his new tank build? I'm wondering if he's gonna implement the same methods.

Any pics of the _new_ setup yet?
It really was a lovely tank, so many colours.

I'm setting up my new tank and have now decided to get those big reflectors. I only have two 150w halide units (arcadia 3series) and plan on incorporating them into a wodden built unit. Like Tom's :

But I need way more LR and frags as its currently too open.

Regards
Conor.

I'll be honest, and I don't know if its been said, but I thought that tank was truely FUGLY!! Horrendous! I'm a diver and never have I seen ANYTHING like that. I bet I could do the same thing, buy as many corals as possible and stuff them in a tank!

Now on the otherhand, I am in no way criticising his skills. Top notch! A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into that tank (Literally too, with all those hard corals packed so tightly, he had to cut himself (blood), with that lighting, it had to be hot (sweat), and after it crashed (tears)).

I guess its like a painting. You can't just slap some paint on a canvas and its a masterpeice. Like the Mona Lisa. I, personally, think its an ugly painting. I wouldn't want it in my house (unless I was selling it ;) ). However, I am in no way going to even hint that DiVinci doesn't have any skill. He is truely a master painter. I don't even want to think about what it took to make the Mono Lisa.
