Looking at LED tanks - your tank, Roberto, being an example - reinforces my oppinion that LED lighting is not as good as T5 or halides.

Your tank has been lit for how long with LEDs now? Nearly 2 years, is that right?

Lets look at some of your corals, (not new additions that have only been in a few weeks/months) and see how their colour and growth have developed over the last 18-24 months, please post up some pictures showing leaps in growth, as your tank looks like it's only been running a few months using medium sized maricultured sps colonies - there's very little growth or development. If I'm wrong post up some pictures of your tank, please do.

Iv been running cree leds over my 32 gal for over a year now but just started keeping sps over the last 5 months growthh and color have been awsome also have buddys that Finn the same thing with a tone of success..I posted in sps forms a red planet frag I got a cupple months ago the gorwth is unmistakable check it out ill post more on 1-4-12 each month ill update...

Wanted to bump this. I've played with diy LEDs, t5s, and MH.. most recently I have an a150 kessil hanging over a 30 cube.

anyone have kessil 1 year pics?

After my tank being setup for 3 months and have LEDs on it the entire time I have learned several things...
1. Tank stays much cooler then my old MH tanks.
2. It's an aga 120 and I have only two soft corals a ricordea and a small leather. They are bleach white sitting on the sand. While my sps look great.

LED is here to stay. Early and likely not fully understood but rest assured here to stay. The easy out is to stick with what you know or understand and that's OK too. There was a time where people said we couldn't grow SPS with T5, well we all know where that went.....

my personal opinion is for newbie's like myself led seems like a good option but I think it's all matter of opion and budget. I really like some of the tanks i have seen with MH and LED also wish i could show a pic of my tank but just switched to LED a week ago

Well considering the best i've done with SPS was with my 15 gallon and a diy led fixture i will probably be building my own led lights. 4 color channels with VDM dimming.

I haven't seen a single tank here lit with LEDs that show corals with their best possible colors. I see a lot of purple, blue, green, and brown. I had my tank on LEDs for over a year and within 2 weeks of switching to an MH and T5 combo I saw a noticeable difference in growth and color. After a month, it was a different tank altogether.

color blown out pics of corals being shown under blue leds? yeah... not sold. My chalices look FAR better under MH than they did under LEDs and they are growing a lot faster as well.

I switched to LEDs about a year ago and will never go back to MH or anything else.
The tank is mostly LPS but there are many old SPS in there also.

I tryed posting pictures but they dont work for some reason but i posted the link .you can go to the link and post there those are not my corals or tank thats a friend of mine im not realy sure what color combo he uses but they look better in leds
