I posted this on another thread but no response....................
I am thinking about going with this bulb for two reasons. First it will allow my sps to grow faster and second the par rating for my icecap ballast is amazing. MY questions are if anyone has this bulb can they plaese post there experiances and posible some photos. I will be supplimenting with 150 watts of vho actincs to balace out the yellow color. Also after my corals reach the desired hight and growth that i am looking for will it be a problem to go back to my 13k megachrome to get back the great looking colors that i have?
I would appricate any help on this matter Pictures would really help.
Thanks
Michael

there's a guy name Gary Majchrzak in the upstate reef forum who used that combo for quite a while and was actually TOTM this spring. not sure if he still uses that same combo, but he has pictures that go back a ways with that setup

I'm still running Iwasaki 6500k's. (Two 250 watters). I also run a 400w 14k Hamilton and VHO actinics. All ballasts are electronic.

ha, knew it....I thought I remember you mentioned them being harder to find and wasn't sure if you still used the or not.

I run the 400s on a magnetic with a pair of 110 watt actincs. The 400s on the magnetic looked whiter to me than the 250s on an electronic, but not by much.

I have been tinkering with this same idea lately. I feel like I have "been there, done that" with most bulbs on the market. I currently am running 400w Radiums on an HQI ballast, which I feel is by far the best setup out there for coloration. Still to this day though, I have seen some of the most amazing reefs running Iwasaki's on them. Of course I think for color and growth both a combo of Radiums and Saki's are the best, but Im very tempted to go back to Iwasaki's and supplement with quite a bit of T5 actinic to offset.

For a little more inspiration go back and check out Tim Herman's (Therman) old 40 gal breeder system that was tank of the month back in '02 or so. That was lit with one Iwasaki (400w) and 4 x 36" vho's I believe.
