John, they spotlight corals because they are trying to mimic the origin of the coral. Shallow water corals get different lighting than deeper ones. This is how they are able to some what retain the color of the coral.
 
Edward,,, did you notice the use of the new Iwasaki 150 Flood lamp in the 6500k and the 20k.. I knew they were using them but now im positive. I have GOT to get some of those bulbs! They look like standard flood lamps with a DE MH bulb inside them..... this is the link to the bulb,, Its called the PAR 36.......
