See the reflection in the water? Thats what the end of the bulb looks like.... Its kinda a Cut glass looking difuser.

Well,, with it being an Iwasaki,, Im going to give you two opinions............

Magnetic ballast will drive these to the extreme.. Looking at the PAR testing Sanjay did on these im guessing ( dont scream ) they are just as intense as 250SE 10k bulb....


Electronic / IceCap will drive it nice and clean without the 60hz Flicker,... But wait,, their is more....

THESE BULBS ARE GOOD FOR 2 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!....

we should get them and try it out! we can spotlight certain corals that need this light. We should get more info from that site you posted. Im sure they know other options and correct color temp for pink/blue.

Please dont get the pink,,,LOL,, you know they are using them...... but its for looks only.. You know that.... The 20k and 50k bulbs is listed in the same area..but the really cool thing about them is their universal Burn.. so technically if you BB your tank you could,,,, well,,, im not going to suggest putting halides under your corals,, hehe..... but you could fire them at angles the way they did,, it really makes sense.... I need to send you the PM that me and dana are kinda going back and forth over

Amazing tanks. Thanks for the pics. Those Japanese people are a bit obsessed with their lighting. Of all the Japanese tanks I've seen posted in this thread and others I don't think I saw a single canopy. Having all of those lights exposed is a real eyesore, IMO.

BTW, does anyone know what this coral is?

Nope Julio,, they are only 150 watters and 70 watters.... these are medium based halides. In a few of the pics they have whats looking to be 250 watt iwasakis as well in combination with the 20k Flood lamps.....

M160 is the ansi code on the ballast that is required.......

Julio,, your not understanding this,, it is a 150watt DE bulb inside the end of the floods fixture,, its a medium based bulb like you normally use in your home.. not a mogul .. Look at this PDF file and you will understand it a little better

Oh crap I've avoided this forum all along and now that I have seen this I will have to spend more money :lol:

Impressive tanks, I noticed the floodlamps right off also very interesting except for the glare it would cause in the room.

With these tanks being in Japan I wonder how they compensate for the numerous earthquakes? Also what type of circulation systems are they running. I know for anyone who has looked at their systems before then its pretty basic questions but it is the first time I've looked

yea,, they only make SE,, I have a 250 watter over my 40 breeder and love the growth off it.... I have to supplement with three actinic VHOs as well.......
