Jaw fish constantly moving burrows

Hey Reefers,

I recently picked up a jaw fish, he's really neat and already adult size (about 4"). He's doing great and eating well. No regrets on the acquisition at all. However hes been in the DT for about a week now and hes constantly making new burrows.

I have a deep sanded 5.5" and its not a huge deal that he is constantly moving. I am just wondering if he will ever settle?

I've read that you should put a small pile of rubble outside the burrow so they can have all they want to "decorate" their burrow with. If you don't have any available they will usually keep building burrows. Try it and see if it works for you. All you need is crushed coral or crushed LR small pieces, even tiny shells would work. Just give them a small pile of assortment, but make sure you add more when the pile runs out

Thanks Duncan,

Yes I have read this as well. I have provided him with a decent size pile of Crushed Coral and a bunch of random sea shells (for both him and my 4 hermit crabs).

He's pretty neat, he's got a pretty decent tunnel system going on on the left side of my tank. He's made his own caves around my LR that was buried by the sand sitting on the bottom of my tank (well egg crate).
