JBJ NanoCube 24 DX 2006 It's HERE yippie!

Hey Rj , Those eels can get around pretty good. It seems like the fish find their way into the back but they don't come back out.

I am now doing a 10 gal water change a week. I thought about doing a 2.5 on wed. and then on sun. another 2.5. Doing water changes in the nano is so easy.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but Mary would you recommend a nanocube to someone who is thinking of starting a saltwater tank?

It looks like the complete solution :)

Yes !!!! I would this one is very easy. I think others would say the same thing. They are so nice, I really like the NanoCube, but some others are just as pleased with the Aqua-pod. However the new NanoCube DX has been improved they also have made the glass stronger. I believe I have read 5mm now in the 24 DX.

I do a 5 gallon a week change, and I agree, it's so easy!!!!
Hey Amanda,
I think that really is sufficient too. Even though the Jaw fish jumped back into the tank I still haven't seen him :(

Did you ever find your YWG? Post a new pic!!! :D

Thanks for the reply Mary, I actually live in the UK so am currently trying to find a supplier over here but think i'll just have to order it and get it imported.

I read on a different forum regarding the light of the nano supporting only soft coral, is this the case?

Yes, it is a great complete solution for a person new to saltwater, but you also need to pay attention to details such as your salinity, your temperature, your PH and other things. You can see that Amanda, Mary and Myself added things pretty quickly, but we also have 3 or more years of saltwater experience. If you take your time and stick with the more hardy soft corals and hardy fish like Royal Gramma's, Clowns and Pseudochromis's or Damsels, your success will be higher. This will also give you a chance to get use to the your daily/weekly and Monthly maintenance tasks, which are all minor tasks but equally important to a water change with the correct matching salinity. You will probably want bigger and better somewhere down the line, and starting off small is the best way to not waist a lot of money and give you a chance to build up your skills to get where you really want to be with the hobby. Then you will have researched and have some experience under you belt to do a larger setup, saving money and you will have a much better chance for a beautiful successful tank.

Good Luck and post any questions with us, we would be glad to help/assist you with your saltwater adventures... and it is definately an adventure... trust me...

I found it in one of the backchambers this past Sunday. He jumped back into the tank, but I haven't seen him again. I feel like he is still alive, and just hiding.

After putting the gutter guard on the back chambers, he can't get back there again.

Hey Amanda & RJ :D

I was wondering if you ever found him. :( Maybe he is still alive.

When I read about the Jaw fish, I knew that they like to hide out but also read where they like to people watch. I think..."Well come out and watch so I can see you...Ha-ha"

Thank You RJ, Your Eel would think he would be crowded in this one :)

I Love Ya'lls Tanks Too. I love seeing all the different Tanks and what each one does different. Our Little Bit of the sea :)

Not to put a black cloud over the situation, but if he did jump, your not alone :(

My jawfish jumped out the second day I got him--My first saltwater fish :(

Things happen I guess...But they do have a bad reputation for taking their own lives. :(

I hope you find him though! :D

That tank is incredible...its one of those tanks that you look at and say...how is that in a 24 gallon aquarium?

:D
