Just ordered the DCP-5000. I hope it's as silent as claimed. Are there any flow charts available for this pump? I couldn't find any.
Can these pumps be run externally?
Can't you dial it down? I was always under the impression that it's better to get a bigger pump and dial it down than it is to get a smaller pump and run it on high.
I run a 12000 on a 75 gal tank at setting 4.....just dial it down, you'll be fine.....there is head pressure too, that will slow it down a bit

Just got my DCP 4000 today but mine doesn't have the controller with the display like I'm seeing you guys have. Did I get duped or something?
Nope that is the latest pump/controller. I have the same but 8000 running on my new 44gal SPS tank, it's a beast.

It looks to be the same as what you guys have. All the writing is in English on the pump itself and it says DCP 4000 right on it.

Below is a picture of the controller on the box which matches the controller that I received. You'll see on the controller that it does state in English that it is for the DCP 4000 with sine wave technology. However it's just not what I'm seeing you guys having. Keep in mind that I have no issue with this controller as I am going to set and forget the settings. However my only concern is will it harm the pump or cause any functions not to work such as the auto power shut off with no water?

you got the right controller for your pump.
The one with the display starts with dcp5000 model and up.
The dcp5000 pump itself it quite larger than the 4000.
The pump size for dcp5000-10000( or maybe 12000) is exactly the same size.
so yeah, if you wanted the ability to control in increments of 1, then you should get the DCP5000. the lower models you can only control in 10 steps.
Well that's a relief LOL. And den brother that's a lot of flow on a 44. I'm assuming your sump is some ways away
