Jebao WP25 Information

Wow that price is ridiculous but I hope they change that by the time it comes out. I am sure they are pricing it in terms of how popular the wp40's got. They got another thing coming if they think they can pull off successful sales with a $90 price tag on the wp25

They could offer it at the same price as the WP40 and see how many sell. In time, as sales fall off on the WP25 (or 20) they can consider lowering the price. It's all about maximizing the profit! And if the new pump has a speed control (that's the rumor... not sure I believe it) then I'd still buy it. The WP40 has already come down in price from $85 to $75. Just like Reef Breeders was selling the Photon 32 led fixture for $499 back in January, and it went down to $475 for 2 or 3 months and now I see it's at $449. But that's still way more than I paid EverGrow back in December in a good size group buy, so both Reef Breeders and EverGrow are still making good margins. I'm sure Jebao will do the same thing.

For me it's easy. In my 120 gallons tank, I do not want a big and bulky streamer. Instead, I compare with Tunze's and Ecotech's options. For me, they cost about 3 times more. Tunze's nanostreamer 6055 can not produce a wave in the same way either.

Although WP25 quality would be inferior compared to Tunze and Ecotech, it would not make much difference. After all, it's for me a third of the price I would pay for the other options.

As a preorder - I paid $ 90 including shipping. Shipping to Sweden is $ 24.80 - FS price is then $ 65.20. The message I got is that it probably comes about a week or two.

Sincerely Lasse

Given that the ecotech needs a new wetside every couple years, and the bearings on the dry side as well... Which is where I'm at right now with my MP10, thing is getting noisier every day.

And I bought three Tunze DC streamers 4 years ago - and after a year I had to change all the power modules :).

Sincerely Lasse

Well I just talk to Eric at fish street and he mentioned the wp25 won't be released til June.

Well, I can wait. And if all of us 'cheap Chinese junk' lovers are lucky, the delay is because Jebao is changing the WP25 to improve it... like adding the speed control... please, please, please! :headwally:

Maybe June for FS, but Jebao sent me an email this morning saying it is here. There are two versions: WP25-1 which has a magnet holder and WP25-2 which has a suction cup holder. They advertise the WP25-2 as being, "Completely New, Lower price and lower freight cost." I guess you guys who want that super cheap pump may be in luck with the 25-2. The lack of magnets saves them some significant cost in production and shipping. I didn't ask about the price of the wp25-2 because I'm not interested in it. I've never had a power head with suction pumps that I didn't come home to face down in the sand and spraying up a sandstorm. I can only imagine how bad that would be with a wave maker with this power. Here is the photo they sent me.

I am not questioning the authenticity of the picture that you received from Jebao. It is just interesting to see the picture has stamped with www.nipic.com and user name on it. I believe nipic.com is similar to our Photobucket.com. I found it odd Jebao would upload their proprietary product pictures to a public domain.

The picture of the WP-25-2 looks a lot like the old picture in Jebao website in the last several months. Notice the bracket holder of the WP25-2 is different from the WP25-1 and a lot like the WP40.

I'll be interested to know how loud they are when ramped up. I recently got 3 new mp 10's and while I like everything else about the things, I'm not happy with their sound at the high end.

Can't say anything about the WP25-1 or-2, but is they are just a smaller version of the WP40 then they should be pretty quite.

I wonder if that is just for the background picture they used to put the pics of the pumps on?

Well, the picture is in public domain so it is not private property so anyone can use it, I guess.

Well, it's not quite like that. There are lots of photos in the public domain that still require royalties, but that is not really a topic for here.

I want a WP20-5 already!

The point really isn't the price, for me anyways. Some tanks can't accommodate the size or flow of the WP40, thus the WP25 is a suitable choice.

I believe Ecotech sells the Vortechs at a tiered price because that's how US companies do it. It should cost them relatively close to the same to build all three of their pumps, but they bump of the price because 1) people are used to paying more for more features of a higher tiered product and 2) because people buy them. It is my opinion most Chinese manufacturers sell items for what they need to make a profit on them, which is why we see these all right around $100. If not, the WP40 would be $200.

X2 Very well stated. If the WP40 was 150$ like they very well could have been and still got all the buzz nobody would even hesistate at 100$
