Jebo 520 skimmer thread.

cool that is exactly what I am trying to do thanks for the site whale driver.

Sherm I am going to get take you up on that offer.
I will PM you my details later and send you the cash you need. Thanks

Actually Sherm I got a piece of pvc to fit it there, so I am all set, Just waiting on my needlewheel pumps now and I will start the recirc on this skimmer. Thanks for your offer

I have decide to run 2 genx 1000 Needlewheel Pumps Total of 530 GPH. They will be connected via a tee at the stock input of the skimmer and they will recirc. The skimmer will be fed by a rio 800 or similar pump (have a ton of small pumps lying around thought I would use one of those). I will be doing the gate valve mod as well that was supplied via the earlier link, by whale driver. I may add another Genx 1000NW at a later date if it looks like the two I have cannot keep up with the livestock.

I am looking at ways to make it taller in the future as well since we cannot seem to find another supplier for these, I may try standard PVC and connect it on to to get a taller skimmer. We will see after this one is completed. Thanks for all your help Sherm.

No that is a different one than this one . We are talking about the Jebo 520 ( it has been discontinued) although that one you have linked looks like it could be a great Mod as well.

"Unfortunately, the 520 was discontinued prematurely in July of this year and replaced with the PS75 which has a new body design and venturi system that most certainly would not fit the 520. Best of luck, I hope you can find one."

I read that too and thought it meant that the skimmers were different. I could be wrong, Still it lookss like it would be great to Mod much like this just differently

Take a look at this ASM modification site. We should be able to do something similar.

Thats exactly what I had in mind - Thanks for the link Whaledriver

Just orderd a SEDRA 5000 and a couple of Uniseals, and I'm going to use a Maxijet 900 to feed it.

I was playing around with my 520 and figured out that 1 inch spa-flex pipe will slip into the metric fitting that come with the unit. It is a tight fit so you can experiment on a layout without glueing. I think I wont even glue when I am done it is so tight. At most I will use aquarium silicone to seal the fittings since there is no real head preasure on the skimmer fittings.

Thats not a bad idea Whaledriver, the other thought I had for the outlet was to heat it up with the heat gun and streach it to fit the 1" plumbing. Shouldn't be that hard to get it to streach that much.

No pic's here yet - should have some by this weekend though. Only thing I've been able to do so far is pull the center riser tube out of the base. Came right out after hitting it with the heat gun for a few minutes so not much to show yet.

I got my two stage model running wet.

You can see the Nautilus skimmer next to it is pulling next to nothing on the same pump. One day on each.

sweet sherm. If I can find another 520 I may do that as well. Or maybe if the ps75 is actually the same skimmer I can use that body to raise my skimmer. I want to do the hartford loop on this as well. I am hoping to have my pumps by this weekend and the skimmer up and running by monday.

I found a very interesting website of a company that makes protein skimmers in China.

"Shenzhen Honya" sounds like something from a William Gibson novel or someone who will slice and dice you from Kill Bill.

I love the Engrish on the skimmer page:

Reef Octopus detailed data

We can make the Recirculating pump series to be low than 600mm,both to DNW-200-6540 and DNW-150-6530.And the two are both working very well!

Man, it gets even better!

About Us

Take that, all you European ****ants who have spent years and many dollars on aquarium equipment research! Hey, Eheim started out making pumps for model train setups. Maybe I can convince my uncle in Taiwan who makes bamboo furniture to make me some aquarium equipment. Despite all my ribbing, the equipment in the pictures doesn't look too bad.

We are a newly established company in China producing full range of protein skimmers and Calcium reactors.
From the early 2003,when I was a furniture manufacturer,I was invited to source and purchase Marine Aquarium Products in China for a friend from Sinagpore.I got most of things done, but I canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get quality protein skimmer and calcium reactor. Then friend bought samples from Germany for me and required me to learn how to make them. But I spent half years got none factory would like to make similar products. So I decided to study them by myself!I gave up my Furniture Factory, established the first Marine Aqurium Tank and devoted to studying and testing all kinds of protein skimmers!
From the designs and efficiency and materials used,I really spent a lot of time and money.During the two years testing,I have never had an idea of giving up.I even sold my house and car to go on investing them!
Based on science effort, with the helps from European and U.S clients, and lots of my friends,I made rapid progress in studying those Marine Aquarium products. Now I have a company of 1000 square meters, producing full range of protein skimmers and other kinds of Marine Aquarium products. And we are enlarging rapidly.
To do quality products,we are especially good at Acrylic Handcraft works!
We supply quality and cheap products. Our targe is to make Marine Aquarium products are as cheap as Fresh water ones and let all Hobbiest in the world benefit from our efforts!
Thanks & Best Regards,

"And we are enlarging rapidly" - happens to me too when I'm in the right mood.
