Jeff's New tank Build 210g with 90g fuge 40g sump

Looks good Jeff, I thought I'd sneak a peek... Hopefully see you (and some of the people reading this) at the BAR frag swap!!

Filter Sock Box

Filter Sock Box

Thanks for all your help last night Tom. Heck of a design. Three guys, One Table saw, one chop saw, a little glue, six beers, and three bottles of wine. Three hours later we had an awesome filter sock box and a probe holder.

Here is the first compartment being glued and something to show the scale of it.

Here it is all finished and sitting in the sump

Here is a top view and also you can sort of see the probe bracket in the bottom left corner

One more picture that wouldn't fit in the last post. A good closeup. The filter socks can be pulled forward to be removed. The whole box will be somewhat water tight on the front door. so nice and quiet and no splashing.

Ok so this thread is officially back to being active. Here are some pics of the stank Mike and I built out of 1 1/4 x 1/8" tube steel, got it all welded and painted this week.

Wow, Nice welding job! How did you calculate the structure of the stand inorder to hold the massive amount of weight? Looks professionally done along with everything else you guys created. I'm jealous... I don't even want to show anyone my tank now. Thanks guys! Actually I'll show everyone my 24 gallon nano cube (just looked at it). Never mind there's a big frag holder on the side and it looks horrible. ha,ha,ha

Looks great so far! I'm looking forward to watching this build progess. I'm curious to see what you end up putting in the refugium. A 'fuge that large will have so many options. I think filling it with a bunch of seagrass and adding some crabs, shrimp, pipefish, seahorses, etc would make for an incredible display.

Jeff, the stand looks awsome ...can't wait to see the shell. Btw, its looking like your new tank is going to be in the living room now which is cool IMO

You know I have tons of experience  . So let me know what I can do. Hey Jeff, don't forget to leave me some room to babysit my corals:D . I am also in need of soom socks. Anyways, everything looks great, I am definitely jealous. See you soon!

Don't worry Chris, there will be some room for your corals in the new tank. I already told Jeff that we might be babysitting some of your corals.

Thanks everyone for the compliments,

Jason, I couldn't have done it without the help of other reefers in our club. Everything we built (filter sock box, sump, calcium reactor, stand, and everything else) was a joint effort from all of us. If you need help to start a BIG tank, I know a few people:beer:

julianp, I have kinda been lacking in this thread due to a fire(you can see pics in my gallery)so I temporarily started a 75 gal for 4-5 months but I am finally ready for the 210 again. mmmnnnnn....I like the seahorse, pipefish idea in the fuge, right now I have a 6-7" desjardini tang in there waiting for his new home to be built.

Chris, both Jo and I would still like to see your new baby whenever is good, I know your busy. No worrys, when I start the 210 I will have tons of spare room for your stuff. If I were you I would take this opportunity to do everything you want to while your tank is empty and you wont be rushed. By then mikes 55 gallon plastic drum on casters would be perfect to hold all your live rock, and I will hold all your corals, just don't be surprised when they shrink instead of grow in my tank...mmmm....weird. Also I think we did a group buy with Tom, Jason, Mike, and I and bought like 50 socks at a great price. Jason I'm sure remembers where we got them from.

Tom, Yup we are moving to the living room, so I will be able to leave the other tank set up while I set the new one up. And im not really into LPS too much but I might be into the idea of a fish only tank???? don't know for sure yet.
