So true Terry. The extra money I used to upgrade my skimmer. Since it is part of a large order, customs takes a little longer.

The extra money I saved from getting another H&S allowed me to set up an complete garage quarantine system :)

Now the question is; why would you pay 50% for a skimmer where there are no quantifying evidence that shows either way, which one is better. The difference between the luxury skimmers is unproven and I would take the reliability of a Mercedes when it might cost me 2-3 months to get my bently fixed.

Very well said Marco9...I owned a Int300 BK for about a year. One of those things where I( needed to own it just becouse...Very nice skimmer.....but...My friend lost the import deal and is not dealing them and I did;nt know much about the new importer and when it all comes down support from Germany can take quite some time and has'nt seemed to improve.

Now to the story of mine. I sold it, I lost $400 right out of the gate becouse of the price reduction w/ the new importer. So I sell it to a nice guy locally...He runs it for about a month...turns it off to clean it...plugs it back in and nothing...takes the pump apart and the shaft was not attached to the needlewheel. He crazy glued it and last I heard it was working. Well we need to get him a new shaft....He contacts the importer... I don't have the parts in stock, they will be in at the end of the month or whatever. the importer implied to my buyer that maybe I sold him a broken product  ..I would never do that to another person and it infuriates me someone that does not even know me would imply that!!!! Right now I am selling a 1.5yr old 225 for a huge loss of thousands just so I can sleep at night.

Anyways, the importer has been online saying he has parts to others in a thread somewhere but my buyer still has not been taken care of???? Last I heard about a month ago. I don't know how long it has been to this point but I would guess maybe over 2 months.

Nice support for the most expensive skimmer on the market. From the way my buyer explained the break it sounds to me like it is the shaft. If I am correct the shaft has a life time warranty?

now we're on the same page. Much of life is about *where* you want to spend your disposable income. For me, it's putting premium gas in my car at $4.57/gallon :lmao:

Chad, I am sorry to hear about this. I have had over a dozen people PM me with such circumstances. There is not doubt that they make a great skimmer and are well built. My problem is when something goes wrong with such a finely tuned product, it should not take so long to get it fixed.
There is a reason that the RDII is nothing like the first. Just imagine if more people has RD pumps; it would get more attention.

I will always spend my money with any organization that has top-notched customer service, ie Fins Reef ;)

That is why you have an AMG and I still drive a gas guzzling Jeep Rubicon

I've had an H&S already, and it was a great skimmer. The BK uses much thicker acrylic and PVC parts. Much heftier, more solid, and truly a work of art. The BK is also considerably quieter, both the pump and the silencer(or lack there of on the H&S). If I had a choice and $ was no option, I'd love to have a BK D 250 External with 1 modification, I'd put 2 of the smaller RD pumps on it rather than a single pump. If one ever went down, no problem, other than cost to replace the pump of course. But, $1000 for a $1600 H&S that was only 8 months old was too hard to pass on.

Mark, there was a fair amount of problems w/ the pump when they first came into the country. Not sure how many?? Who knows maybe not many?? But it sure di draw alot of attention and it should. When a product is as expensive as this you should get the same level of CS.

One other thing w/ the BK is the pump replacement cost. I think the BK2000 goes for something close to 1k...Over half the cost of my 250 2x1260.

This is the reason I went w/ Fins Reef and H&S on my new skimmer. You just can't beat Brian and Erics' support of the product. As well it is a very well proven product.

I have not seen any bad reviews about Prolines customer service. I highly doubt finsreef can top ATB CS. Victor is always on the boards always helping people and from what i have seen never sleeps an d if pretty local:lol:

If you already have an H&S thats great i have not seen any bad things on them. But just could not see Going from a BK if you already have one to an H&S.

Why not Deltec? If you look at TOTM they are used about 5-1 compared
to H&S.

Guess you would know best Jeremy owning both. I dont think BK is that much more for no reason at all, If so no one would get one. JMO

By the way i am all about finding the best bang skimmer:)
Its all about going with what works for you.

SO, when is the tank going in the house, Your wife must be so stoked:)

I went with H&S because H&S was around before deltec. They do not a full line of products like deltec so that is why peopel are not as familiar with them. I have had more positive reefback from H&S owners, past and present, than any other owners. I am not one to spend a grand or two on new products when I am getting the resluts I am getting with a proven trusted line.

Proline's CS is superb. The only issue would be if they didn't have parts in stock, then it make take awhile to get them here from Germany. Much less of an issue now than it has been in the past, especially as more shops are starting to stock them. Plus, it's much easier to get replies here on RC from Proline than H&S. H&S doesn't seem to spend any time here on their forum.:(
Again, the only reason that I am switching was the need to upgrade, and the budget was just too tight to spring for a new, larger BK. I do like the BK better, and may get another one down line, but the H&S was too good of a deal to pass on.
I've never really been a fan of the Deltec's. They aren't much cheaper than the BK's, and are not even comparable. Not that a new H&S is much cheaper, but then, I didn't buy new. If I'd had a larger BK, I wouldn't have considered changing, but with the D200, I really can't consider putting the frag tank online with the main system and feel comfortable. It won't be online initially, but would like the option for later.

The tank is coming in later this afternoon. The wife is still hesitant because there is still a possiblity that the house will sell and I'll have done all the work for nothing. To me, it's another enjoyable project, and moving a single 250g or a 125g and a 60g system makes little difference. So, it'll only be the time spent setting up the system and repairing a few holes in the drywall that is the main difference. But, I'll get to finally set up my new(though nearly year old) display tank and get to enjoy it in the house instead of the garage. Well worth it to me.:D
