Jim,

Got the DAS and Black flex will be here wednesday. Let me know when you want to hook up. No hurry. I still need to come check out the system

Sounds good dude. Gimme a call when you have some time and we can set something up.

Pete, I've never seen flax used w/hose barbs, but imagine if it fits around the barb, you should be fine. You might need some hose clamps though...

Davey, can flex PVC be hooked up using hose barbs, or just glued to fittings?

No, you're not supposed to use barbed fittings with flex PVC. I don't think that it would seal well, not would it hold up over time. You need to use PVC fittings for the flex pipe.

Thanks Chris!

I want to add more fish. I've been thinking about adding like 5-10 female lyre tails. That may liven the tank up a little.

I am going to LA next weekend to pickup some fish I could get you some Anthias if you want.

PM me for more details.

Chris

Thanks!

I'm loving the Maculiceps/spotted cheek. Great fish.

The reactor is great. I'm really happy with the purchase. I do need to put a check valve on it though, but other than that its working well.

I really like the huge union top it has and the storage capacity.

Now I just need my new skimmer to arrive :p

Hey Adrian :)

Yeah, when I originally ordered my skimmer, I wanted an external model with an airstar pump. Since the airstar med was still under development, Victor shipped me a med w/an eheim pump under the agreement that I would be shipped a retro fitted airstar to replace it as soon as they were ready. While it works VERY well, its not what I wanted. Since then the new pump was released; however, do the the RC configuration of the skimmer, the pump won't fit because it spins in the opposite direction as the eheim (which IIRC can spin both ways).

So the result was a pump that doesn't fit my skimmer :(

Being the great guy Victor over at ATB USA is, he agreed to take my skimmer back, and replace it with a new one. One built with the pump I want. But, instead of returning the skimmer, I found a buyer to make it easier on Victor, as cash in his hand is easier to pay the bills with that a used skimmer (and I could hook a local up with a killer deal).

So my new skimmer should be sometime this month. Hopefully around the week of the 11th :)

Here you can see why the pump doesn fit

On the internal models, it doesn't matter. But because the pump must be attached to skimmer body from the inlet and exhaust on ext models, it won't fit the current body.

i see, thanks for the details explanation Jim. so saying you getting a newer model, are you going to get a bigger model or stated with your current size but updated version?

How's your tank going man? :D

No, its going to be the same size.

The tank is doing very well. Its on auto pilot for a while. Gonna install some new ballasts this weekend, but the livestock is doing great. I plan to add some more corals in a couple of weeks. Getting ready to grab a really nice piece from a local :D

Other than that, not much else has changed. I've moved a couple of corals around to try and get a sense of who likes to be where in the tank.

I hope I like the new ballasts!

I'll post some pics when I'm all finished.

Cheers,

Jim

Update

I picked up some ballasts from Jeremy a couple weeks back. Just got around to installing them this afternoon. Thanks for the killer deal Jt!!!! PM inbound shortly :D

Here's a shot of the old 2x2 box. I only need 4 ports because the M58 used a 6 prong plug.

The new ballasts require one cord per unit, so I had to buy a bigger 3x3 box.
