Thanks Charles! I noticed that that you also joined the cone head skimmer brigade

With a nice white one too :D

Hey Jeremy!!! Whats up man? Hows your tank doing? Long time no speaky....

Yeah, the pump is nice. Its silent. It runs a little warm, but it draws a TON of air. The eheim was pulling 1100ish, this thing can easily draw in 1500lph. Its like 1.3 eheims.

I have noticed though that with the body being as small as it is that for me its running better around the 1200-1300 range. The body is packed much tighter with bubbles.

I'm waiting for it to break in now. Its coming along nicely though. I can't imagine it will do any better than the last one though. That skimmer was already too large IMO.

Here are some shots. I'll post these and a couple others in the ATB forum.

I got my wife to help me take a pic of the dwyer meter hooked up to the skimmer. It maxed out a 50 scfh meter today, it must be broken in now!!!

Nick, please don't pollute my thread with those dirty BK pictures :p

JK

Thats a SCFH meter. 50 scfh= 1415 lph. It looks like he's right around 55 scfh so it looks tobe pulling around 1557 lph.

My air meter reads in LPM. 25 lpm= 1500 lph.

So you see, they're right on par w/each other.

The volute on these pumps can be tweaked to draw more or less air. It just depends on how Klaus and Anton decided to build it.

The mini 200 has a little more volume inside it as well I believe, so I'm sure it can handle that extra little bit of air.

What do you choose? The reef tank or the woman?

So my finace has decided that she wants me to live in Japan for a least a couple of years. I guess its been on her mind for sometime and she decided to fill me in this week.

The only thing really keeping me here is this reef. The job, I can find another. I don't own a home and have been waiting to buy one after we're married. My car is paid off. My friends and family, well, I'll always hopefully always have them. But the reef is my hobby, and obviously a big part of my life. I gave up drinking 5 years ago (last Sunday :) ) and this hobby has really helped fill a big hole in my life. Setting up a reef tank in Japan just isn't as easy as it is here (especially on this scale) and just not option as I'd be living in Tokyo (small spaces).

This possibility has always been on the horizon; however, I thought I had cleared that up before I went forward with this build. Unfortunately, thats just not case. Its something that she really wants me to do, and I know that if I don't go, its only a matter of time before our 6 year relationship ends.

Decisions, decisions.... :(
