Thanks you again John for solving my lighting issues. No doubt it was user-error but you gracefull resolved it along with Icecap...and got me back up and running!

FAOIS rules!

I agree John is a great help with all aspects of reef keeping and a valuable asset to our hobby

Thanks for all you do John!

Chris

John and his staff are very knowledgable and have always been very helpful at resolving lighting and equipment issues and providing any kind of information on his products.

I just bought a MH/VHO setup from John today and he was very informative about the stuff I got.
I was originally going to get two 250W MH and four T-5's to go into my canopy. He told me the effects of the MH's on the T-5's and I changed my mind and went with what he suggested and I am glad I did now cause I see that the T-5's are not very good as actinics.
Now it's two 250 Mh and going to be four VHO lamps.(Gotta go tomorrow and get the remaining lamps.)
Thanks again John!

Sailor_Jon,

Glad FAOIS John could fix your ICECAP. So now you can put it on that 180 gallon system you may get. (-:

I ditto all the comments about FAIOS John knowing his stuff. If he is speaking, I listen.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks guys for the kind words.

Jon, I hope you animals enjoy the new light.

what did he mean by the T5's are not good as actinics vs the VHO?

It is not which is a better Actinic thing. It is about dealing with heat. All fluorescent lamps have issues with heat degrading their spectrums prematurely, particularly the blue wave lengths. The T5 format is more prone to temperature induced degradation than the T12. If enough cooling is used then there is no issue. The problem is defining enough.

ALL LIES =P
Everyone knows its the magnetic radiation that is generated by the earths core that slowly increases the internal temperature of the tank, thus causing chemical release of florocarbons/chlorocarbons, that in turn will change the way the light refracts off the surface of the water changing the temperature of the color 1 degree per .4356 degrees C. that the tank is raised! WAKE UP!

This is funny!! Saliki>Al Gore

So there are T-5 bulbs that have a nice atnic look that match VHO atnics? I had some strange thought that VHO atnics were a better atnic look. Is that some internet conspercy?

Thanks,
Chris

Somebody should put Al out of his misery. Just think of all the hot air and the effect on the environment he has all by himself!!!
