Jumpers - What are the Most Common Ones?

How about a thread to keep a list of the most commonly kept fish who are known jumpers? I'll start with:

Bartlett Anthias
Firefish / Purple Firefish / Helfrichi Firefish

Well all fairy and flasher wrasses are for sure jumpers. But I think any fish CAN jump if it is so inclined.

Very true. I thought this thread might be a good guide for people with open top tanks...a list of fish to definitely avoid.

I think this list so far is pretty good. Any long slender fish is a larger threat than others.

But any fish can jump. I actually startled my blueline angel in QT last night and he hopped out. Fortunately I scooped him up and put him back in. Wasn't more than a few seconds fortunately and is acting completely normal today. Needless to say there is eggcrate over my QT now!

All wrasses, gobies, and anything thats being chased at one point or another. When in doubt use a net top, not eggcrate.

I've never had an anthias or midas blenny jump, yet my 6" regal angel jumped, so take threads such as this one with a grain of salt. Best bet... just cover the tank!! :D

I agree. If I covered my tank sooner, I could have prevented the loss of a few nice fish. Its not worth the risk. I will never have another tank without a cover.

I couldn't agree more. Alot of fish would be saved if everyone covered their tank. It's so easy to build also.

Even w/ a 1/4" bird net top I lost both my Helfrichi's w/in a couple days, so they get my vote for top jumpers, and not a cheap loss either.

I'd vote for the Hoplolatilus - tilefish. If you ask anyone who has kept one of these fish for more than a few months (in order to eliminate counting those that just failed to thrive) what the COD was - the answer is usually jumping out out of the tank - even through eggcrate or between other barriers. Many other fish will eventually settle down and stop jumping, but apparently not these fish.....

Almost all wrasses are jumpers. And all fishes can go carpet surfing including nemos when they are under threat...
