Officially noticed eggs last night. I was disappointed the night before because she didn't look pregnant yesterday and I didn't see eggs - so she must have already laid them yesterday and I just didn't see them. But they are definitely there!
I was wondering: i've read that the eggs usually start out the color of the parents. How long do they typically stay that way? I have never seen the eggs a bright orange color like I've seen pics of others... I've only seen like a darker tan/brown through dark purple colors. My female is orange. The male is black and white, so wondering if that black and white is showing to be dominant? Just trying to do some predictive guess work on the coloring on the babies...
I have never seen them spawn though, so I've always only ever seen the eggs at least 24 hours after hatch.
Nanno phyto culture was looking pretty pale yesterday, Tetra culture greening nicely. I went ahead and started a new Nanno culture with my starter, and added more parent culture to begin with, so we'll see how they all turn out.
I started building a 'wine rack' for my cultures last night. The plan is to make a ladder style rack to hold the culture bottles up to a window. It will have routed channels in the wood to route the airlines through (mostly unseen). I'll post a pic when complete. Even if the wife veto's the window idea, it should be a nice rack to illuminate via flourescents back in the fish room.
