Looks great, mouth tight, very sticky and great color. LA never disappoints. Wondering if anyone else has one of these and possibly some pics. I will get some up once its acclimated.

Would also love to hear your experiences with this species.

Looking forward to pics, they've had some nice sebaes recently. The LFS near me truly believe that sebaes are supposed to be ghost white, so LA/DD is going to be my source for a healthy one.

I got an awesome h. Malu from them that was very bright neon green. Its mouth was tight and it looked very good but over the span of 5 weeks it wouldnt eat and just kept shrinking until it died. But LA gave me a full refund since i kept them in the loop with pictures and calling them.

Tha Malu is what I have, and has now become my favorite for a mixed reef, great color, stays smallish, sand dwellar, easy to control.
I'll dig pics later.

My sEbae came in white but after time with changed to light brown with purple tips... What I read is that they aren't suppose to be white. Others can chime in but my is healthy and eating...

I had the exact same experience...my H. Malu died in 48 hours...the bag was super cold when it got to my place :(. But they gave me a full refund.

Very nice! I get excited when a picture of an H. malu is really an H. malu

Same here, 95% of the pics I see aren't Malu's. I have serious doubts that what LA is selling are malus............they are pretty unmistakable to indentify.

Nice one daveocean............yours is the only red one I've seen since I have owned mine. I've never seen another like mine with the yellow tips & distinctive white rings.

Here's a quick vid..............

^^Nice, I have some pics saved from when I was searching for one(it took a while to find one, especially one w/ good color) and I actually have a pic of one pinkish red w/ yellow tents, but it could even be yours.
I've seen some nice ones in pics, some very purple.
LA/DD had some, but good luck getting one before sold, I guess some people are on a list to be notified or something, so I kept missing them on there.
Hopefully OP got a good one, and ahem...waitin' on pics man...:strange:

pics up tomorrow for sure. I promise. Its settled in nicely and doing great. no hosting yet though. I'm patient though

Patience usually prevails, it took my picasso's 4 months to accept my Malu, but I think that was unusally long and due to the revolving door of hosts I had prior(kinda not by my choice)
Now they never leave it.

Sorry it took so long

Sorry it took so long

Well the H.malu seems to be adjusting fine. I've fed it but haven't been able to stick around and see if it actually eats, I plan on doing that today for sure. It looks good except for the fact that the tentacles seem to stay short and stubby, not sure if this is normal or is from the amount of flow it is getting. its about 12" away from my mp 10 but the mp10 is on only 50% and the malu is blocked by some rocks. I figured if it wasn't happy it would move.

anyhow any tips or advice would be much appreciated. BTW, the clowns haven't hosted yet but hopefully soon. They hosted my LTA immediately and I cannot figure why they haven't hosted anything else since.

Before I forget, it is also in the same tank as a baby RBTA, will there be any issues between them?

now for the pics

That looks healthy, I wonder if it will keep that blue/greenish color like that.
Tents are perfectly normal for Malu.
I'm sure your clowns will eventually find it/accept it.
Personally, I would ditch the BTA, but mainly because I like a fair amount of corals too, and the two will take up a bit of space.
Also the BTA's wander more, and across rocks/corals.
But that's just me, I would definitely be running carbon.

I just have a soft spot for this RBTA as it is a part of a shredded one that has grown into a new little nem.

I don't like running carbon because I have a tang and I fear HLLE

You know, I have not read that thread on carbon/HLLE, but me and a whole lot of others have been running carbon for a long time w/out incident.
Most nem keepers do for sure to tone down any chem warfare.
I understand attachments to survivors.
Gotta say I like the color of your Malu, first one I have personally seen that color.
Looks real healthy too, and very clear rings on tents.
