Juvi Blueline Angelfish

Hey Nick, I think the fish is recovering now. After two weeks the swelling looks to be going down. At the height of the swelling about 3 days ago an air bubble appeared at the top of the swollen eye so that's a bit of a worry.

The fish has eaten throughout though. I could tell it was experiencing some discomfort and it's aim was a little off when eating but hopefully it's going to recover.

As for my activity on RC, just reflective of my interest in the hobby of late which has been low. I'm in south Japan so wasn't affected by the quake/tsunami.

Glad to hear the fish is improving and that you and your loved ones were not affected by the quake & Tsunami....

I really enjoyed my time in Japan while in the Marines and was devastated to hear and see all the damage done and lives lost...

Lawrence, do you have any pics of your Blueline with adult coloration?

Mine is still quite small, but is showing the lines through 50% of the body and is now discovering foods other than Nori....

How large is your Blueline? Any issues with your IO/Red Sea Regal and Blue Line?

I've got an Indo/Pac Regal and I'd like to someday get them in the same tank.

My Blueline currently has the yellow face still but the lines are about like your first picture. Its about the size of a 50 cent piece now.

They get along fine. No problems whatsoever. My blueline is now larger than my regal, about 5 inches now.

my LFS has two blue line angel and I am going to buy one of them, maybe both

both are 2 inch

one's line is like normal straight

the other one's line are like unusual line, you know like in leaves there are lines, like y shape, like horizontal y shape etc like that

so which one should I get?
which one is like better...the normal straight lines or the unusual lines

basically, u know for sub adult emperor the lines are like kinda y horizontal shape and as it mature it becomes straight, so its like that

also they are from Japan but Captive bread...do you think I should buy both?

As for the lines I'm not sure if you mean like the ones below:

If you mean straighter lines like the one on the right then as they get older the lines will eventually straighten out.

I normally prefer to buy 2 of different size so that way both doesn't have to fight for dominance otherwise they may fight more to establish. If you want to buy both then I would say it can potentially be done but be ready to remove one if it doesn't.

My name is Kevin. I assume the one with the straighter line is the bigger one? As to which one it really comes down to preference, personally I always like smaller ones but they grow so fast it wouldn't be long the juv will lose the yellow and the lines will become straighter.

I've two in a 180g with the larger one being 6.5"+ and the smaller one at 4.5". Both swims the entire tank during the day but they swim separately. Almost but not quite there yet to pair.

actually, they are captive bread, the fish came from Japan (not sure where it was captive bread tho) since they are captive bread, they are only 2 inches or less but dont have any yellow to it.

The store owner said that they got their adult colouration quicker b/c or CB.


Since yours swim seperately, I will prob get one, the one with straight lines

btw the price for one is 110-115, and if I get two i can prob get it for 210 or so.

what you guys think?

That is a good price. The lines will change as they grow and will get more lines so I don't think it really matters which one. I'd get both.

thanks...I would love to but I think its too much for my tank

currently I have

1 Flame angel
1 Flame back angel
1 Red sea Emperor (adult 5 inches)
1 Personifier
1 Scribble

the LFS is going to get me an australian Blue Face angel (I heard indo is not good)

and maybe but I doubth its possible, 1 juvi french angel or cortez (I like them with the gold stripe)

so with this I am getting blue line, dont you think 2 blue lines will be too much?
or shoud I get it, the blue lines are smaller or size of my flames

btw... how are indo blue lines compare to japan (look wise and hardy) another LFS got 3 in stock and it was sold within few mins for $65

If you mean meredithi then it only gets to 25cm where true personifer will get to 35cm. I've bl, meredithi and true personifer in my 180 and I find the bl to be more aggressive. As to which pair is better I think it really comes down to personal preference. I've the uv 57w and will be putting it online once all my tanks are in the basement.

hmm I watched your video 3 times, lol and I think its better to have all the fish in pairs than single ...lol

To which pair, I thought False/True Personifer are nicer than blue lines, but after seeing yours I think your blue line pair is much nicer than personifiers, even tho they are nice too

other than the fact true is more rare and expensive, which one do you think is nicer?

I had a scribbled in another tank and was ready to pair but lost it recently and it wasn't meant to be.

From the pics I've seen the mask on the meredithi looks better and other than the black stripe not much difference to me.

You can't go wrong with either pairing of bl, false/true personifers or scribbled.
