Kar's 200g Starfire Tank Thread - Planning Stage

Ok, you have a point. I'll probably be coming home next year from MACNA with one or two. Or do i buy 2 waveboxes for a similar price?

I may sound abit redundant with this but for the price of the Tunze controller you can the profilux that will control 8 tunze and you get to do more with unit, for the same price that you pay the tunze controller.

And that be the only source of flow?

You will need some stream for directional flow.

How many would you think was needed for directional flow?

2 tunze 6201 is your best bet 10+k on the stream, approx 18K from the wavebox and your return pump should be plenty...

Congrats on the new setup. Good idea taking your time, i know it took me a year just to get water in my 280. Two years later im still gather equipment and waiting to add my first coral. I like your ideas i would go with a soft sand bed 1-2inches. I just like the look better. As far as blasting it with flow go for it i do have a few spots where you can see the bottom of my tank because my tunzes stream blows the sand around. I don't get sand storms so don't worry about that just have spots of sand higher then others and few empty holes.

Thanks, Yoboyjdizz. I will try to keep the sand level though because i like having a neat SB.

Here is what i thought about for the Stand and Canopy but on the right and left side put cabinets where i could house controllers and reactors etc.

Looks good, i try to keep my sand level but the flow won't let you so when yo take pictures fix it really quick haha.

Looking great kar. That is going to look awesome. I think both the tunze and vortechs are great. I did a lot of research on them for my tank but ended up not going with any of them. But they are both great.

Nothing new happening with the tank plans but.....
I have been fishing the past 2 days and I see some beautiful landscapes and its a shame i dont have a good camera so this week im going to get a new Samsung Digimax NV8 and will share some pics with you next time I go fishing which will be this upcoming weekend or the week after as I have a week of soon.

Not too bad, on Saturday i caught nothing but on sunday i got around 5. We was going for big 15-20lbs carp, we even tried putting the bait right on their noses but they just didn't care however, I did get a bite from a koi which just spat it right out. I guess it was just too hot from them.

Oh, and i got sunburnt. :D

Update!

Update!

I have a few changes that I have made to the plans.

Flow - I am going to get 2x Vortech MP20's instead of the Tunze wavebox or the powerheads, generally to save space in the tank.

Lighting - Im still not sure if I should get MH supplimented with T5HO or just get T5 lighting all together.

Tank - I have been thinking alot about the tank lately and I'm beginning to think about going with a 180 rather than 200. I think i will be able to accomodate a 180 better than I will a 200.

yea i ment like small mouth or just regular bass. Where i go fishing there is a lot of good spots for bass and carp and much more. I think the 180 would be fine as well. I mean they are both big tanks. Like yous said it will be more compatible to your room.

Kane, i would really think about going as big as you can i mean you still be using the same equipment either way so cost not much of a factor. You will be kicking yourself later if you went smaller trust me. For a few hundred more expand that width if you can. Tangs like length but width gives more room for hiding spots and less aggression between them. I wish i would of spent another 100 to go with a 36inch plus width!
