ive heard good things about tropic marin. i also saw some test results involving TM, and a number of other brands of synthetic salts. TM Had very good numbers.

why cant you see how much waste water your producing?

all you have to do is get 2 cups of equal sizes (2 of the exact same drinking glass) turn on the unit, and let the product water drain into one cup, while the waste water drains into the other cup. the waste water cup should fill up 4 times in the same amount of time that the product water cup fills once.... its that simple.

if your getting less than 4 cups waste to 1 cup pure, then pull that inner tube out of the waste tube and cut 2 or 3 millimeters off the end, re-insert it into the watse tube, and run the flow test one more time.

be sure to cut just a little bit of the inner tube at a time. if you cut too much off, then thats it. you'll have to replace it. if your getting 5 cups of waste water per 1 cup of product water, then the inner tube is too short. although a 5 to 1 ratio should be fine. any more than 5 to 1 and the inner tube shold be replaced.

dont make me take anymore pictures! ;)

Its not a big hassle. But instead of using the drain clamp/saddle i drilled hole through and end cap in the plumbing but im going to have to take that off to get to the waste tube. Ill do it tomorrow/today (its 1am over here) and do the test. Like i say its not a big hassle but its somethin i dont like doing because ive been known to damage things in the past :p I think this thread needs more pics.

Lol, Me and Aaron are going sea fishing tomorrow in the great English waters so if we catch anything ill be sure to take some pics and keep this thread alive. :)

We just got back, We went out at 6 in the morning for when the tide came in and had a good few hours. We both caught a Cod and Flatfish. Ill get the pics uploaded later.

We're off fishing again tomorrow morning. Because my camera is broke i took pics with my phone and i cant find the lead that connects it to the PC and now ive lost my bluetooth stick thingy. Ill take some more pics tomorrow.

Fishing wasn't so good today, I caught nothing :(. Ive still got yesterdays pics to upload once i can get them on my PC

Oh, BTW the thread name has changed because i am going to base this tank on what i saw whilst in the Red Sea. The rockwork will be the same as what i saw (as close as i can get it) and i will try and get corals and fish that are known to the read sea. there maybe a few changes but i am going to try and make this as Egyptian as possible :)

Yeah, we'll try pond next week if you like. Then i can get some sleep.

I recieved 20lbs of Live Arag Sand and my digital thermometer today. I am still waiting on my refractometer and digital PH reader. I am going to keep the probes constantly in the sump and hook them up on the outside of the stand if you get what i mean.

yeah but we'll still need to get up relatively earlyu to catch the fish feedingbut not as early as yesterday and today and it was quite cold

Here is the idea i had for the rockwork, its not accurate nor is it the best drawing but you should get the idea.

Obviouly because of the Red Sea approach, the fish list has changed. The corals was a big variety of SPS and i think LPS over there i may have seen some softies but it was last year, Id love to house a Sohal tang and the various butterflyfish but its just a 55 so i cant. Anyway im hoping this will turn out to be a great reef, Im getting my hopes up a bit too much here but maybe TOTM material
