Kar's 55g Red Sea Reef Thread

Im still deciding on rock work, i may go with my original idea but now i thinking i could go with a drop off like this.
Obviouly i cant swim in this tank but with the drop off its just like a big block of LR and you swim over and there is about a 5ft drop with corals literally covering the wall. Ill see what you all think :)

Ive decided not to go with the drop off now because of lighting on the corals. Im also not going with an anemone because i want this to be a coral only tank but i may get a BTA or something for the two clarkiis and now thats if i even get them because i may swap them with some other type of fish. I think the rockwork will completely change from what i had in mind but only time will tell.

Thanks, What do y'all think about the six line wrasse adittion. i think it wil be a good member to a reef tank when keeping SPS but i know they can be bullies.

But im not a big fan of rock walls, sure it looks great in the Red Sea but in a tank? and mines only a 55g so it wouldnt be a very big one and i want loads of little holes and crevices for the fish to swim in and out of. Plus like mentioned the lighting could be an issue with that. Things are probably going to change with the rockwork but ill have to wait until i get the rock.

Did anybody notice the big Naso in this pic? He was a great fish when i say big i mean BIG he was following me around the reef  Constantly swimming under me and all around me, His streamers were huge aswell althought you cant see them much in that pic.

you could build like a valley rock coming down from both sides like that but its up to you i think with that tank you could do pretty much anything as long as it doesnt carpet the bottom of the tank

The valley might not be a bad idea, Its hard replicating a 9ft deep HUGE reef full of huge fish and thousand year old coral which included a 4ft across Brain Coral!

am sure you can think of something you dont have to put the brain coral on but if you get the rock and create a valley like shape and also if you crate in a such a way that the coraks cant move behind the rock but the fish have enough space to swim through the crevices
