Kerchoff Marine Laboratory

I've been getting my water from there for quite a while and I've never had any problems with it.

The only problem I DO have is that there are still a bunch of commercial guys getting their water there.

I've seen Len Leibrand there (Window to the sea)
Some guy from Sand-Bar Pets (in Newport)
and a bunch of guys who do commercial tank service

I agree with some of the folks above... BOYCOTT ANYONE WHO MIS-USES THIS RESOURCE!!!

If you are a hobbyist then great, get as much as you want. If you are getting free water from here and then charging people for it, SHAME ON YOU.

Sand Bar is three blocks from my place I'm going to verbalize those a-holes! Not to mention never buying anything from them again. It is total BS that the hobbyists who have 9-5's can't take advantage of this resource. They should not allow these "opportunists" the privilege of using their free water for a profit. After reading this post front to back and realizing this place is only a few miles from my home then realizing a-holes ruined it just ****es me off something fierce.

i was getting water from there last year and had good results.
and the Only problem is that i had to wait about 30 min before i get 40 or 60 g.
If Kerchoff Marine Laboratory agree to give free water to comercial guys, we can't do anything about it, but would be good if they make rules and let them get their water a day or two per week and the other days for hobbyist..
(i don't mind if they make profits from free water they are getting, as long i don't buy it from them)...
Just My opinion.!

I was down there today and a hobby guy and a commercial guy got into an arguement right there. The thing that ****ed me off was that the Hobby guy actually went INSIDE to complain. That will get this shut down faster than anything else. You got a problem, deal with it yourself. Don't go and **** off the Kerckoff folks with your petty stuff.

Yea just put nails under the guys tires when he's not looking duh.... J/K

How's your new setup Jeff? any pics yet?

I've been there. The gentleman thats runs it gave me a little tour of the facility which was pretty cool.

Funny, I used to buy water from Sand Bar when I lived close by there... should have known. I think the owner is a really nice guy though from my experience... I would have just driven down a little further to the beach and got my water.

I have no problem with a pro using this resource and have waited an hour on more then one occasion to get water because two Pros were in front of me. We do not have any exclusive right to it, any more they they do. Sometimes I pick up water for my buddy and he pays me a few bucks for my time. Does that make me a professional? From what I remember Sand Bar sells there water pretty reasonably @.39 a gallon. I think that is far considering how long it takes to run down there, fill the containers and then transfer it to their tanks and then store it and be open store hours, so you can get it when you need it not just during a short time window. Now if they were selling it for $1.59 a gallon that would not be reasonable.
I have a much bigger issue with people stealing or causing a fuss and interrupting the operations there. That will close it for all of us.

I don't have an issue with that either... Unless the people there SAY that they don't want "pros" and that causes it to close.
