Kessil A350

Drool away. :-)

Should hear something Thursday, they have some sort of special event on the Kessil FB page. Hopefully 4/20 will be the "opening day" to get one of these rather than another day of waiting patiently(ish).

I am wondering if the release of the A350s will have any bearing on the price of the A150s? I am thinking about two more A150s for my 40 breeder but want to wait to see what effect the new release has on pricing and the used market for A150s.

just saw on marine depot . com website the kessil a350 is up for sale for $399, well looks like maybe a pre order. Not a whole lot of info on the site but some is up.

It says to hang it 1-2 feet above the aquarium, don't think your gonna need a wide angle lense. The A150s were set to be 8 or 9 inches above. 400 bucks isn't bad at all IMO, available in a week or two.

I wonder if one will be enough to cover my 36Lx30wx18T. I think I remember the specs saying at a height of 24” the light cone diameter will be about 40” or so at the base... I THINK... Then later I could add 2 more 150s.

They list the gooseneck as a accessory, so probably.
Correction
They took the gooseneck off the list of accessories, so probably not.

Also notice how the ETA went from 1-2 weeks to 4-6 weeks. This is either a representation of how many people pre-ordered over the last 12hrs or Marine Depot won't actual get them in-stock until afew weeks after the announcement. Either way looks like more waiting is in store.

I put one on pre-order, we'll see how it goes. I hope the gooseneck will be made available for the 350. That was one of the reasons I was looking at Kessil.

I wanted to pre-order today, but I am waiting till tommorrow to find out if the 350 will come with different lenses like was said on the last page.

If it does, I will wait till my LFS gets one in. That way I will have a idea of if I really need the wide lens or not.

I want to light a 2x2ft area with one. I'm hoping a regular lens will be enough, I figure you'd get better par numbers than the wide lens.

(I'd prefer if they do have two lenses, for them to be interchangable. Instead of having to buy awhole different 350 for just a lens)

Yea, if the specs are released tomorrow and I dont like what I see, I'll probably just cancel the order. When the specs were posted on Kessil's site the first time, I was pretty sure the focused lens would adequately cover my tank. That would have been cool if they made interchangeable lenses instead of having to buy another unit.

1. We don't know that's an A350 for sure (or which lens it is).

2. Looks like it's just sitting close to the tank. Those of us with A150s can attest to the dispersion when it's raised to the optimum height.

3. Speaking of optimum height, the larger the tank, the FARTHER away the light needs to be to not see the "line" of the spread. If it's a small tank, then the spread more than covers the tank, so no line is visible inside the tank.

4. If the A350 does come with either two lens or a choice of standard or wide lens, then I think we're covered in terms of spread. Pun intended.
