Kessil A360WE

LEDs are made in batches and all the LEDs in that cluster where made at different times so I'm sure that's a reason for the Color difference. Kessil is the only aquarium lighting company that manufactures their own LEDs. Also Kessil customer support has nothing but positive reviews. Conclusion: of they say it's good to go, install them bad boys and enjoy!

Hi everyone. Need some help here on the a360we.
I need your help to check if your a360we led clusters on how it looks like.

The reason for this is I felt either light unit got a problem on the led cluster but kessil representative says there's nothing wrong which visually on these 2 units, the arrangement of the led are different. It doesn't convince me. From pic A & pic B, they both have their white & yellow chips arranged in same pattern BUT with the main difference of 2 silver chips.
I still dun know if there should be 2 silver chips or the unit without the silver chips is defective.

Thanks for all your help.

I also forgot to mention that they do not release full spec data on these light because the technology is proprietary trade secrets. Meaning they may have tweaked the formula slightly in another batch for better performance with out notifying the consumer. This practices is common in all manufacturing. Kessil said they are good to go trust them. Honestly nobody here knows dick about LEDs compared to these guys. You bought their lights so you must have a little trust in them.

I am a Avionics tech on F-16s. I can not tell you how many things can be affected from dirty power. Cause us so many headaches.

I glad you pointed this out as I've been trying to convince people not to use a contractor generator when there is a blackout. Obviously, you do what you need to do in that situation, but some of the bog box specials put out power which is really dirty. A few months after Irene, there were a number of my neighbors who's refrigerators suddenly died. It's why I went with a Honda EU.

This is what the kessil representative said

"From what I understand from our production, each light is calibrated to have the same output. Because every LED chip is different, sometimes the arrangement of chips can be different. Both lights will function the same. If the lights do not function the same, please let us know."

Kessil mentioned abt arrangement of the chips can be different. But the problem is my other unit doesn't have the 2 silver chips.
If there are sliver chips on both then I would think is ok for them to be at different locations.

Could these 2 silver chips be a "dead pixel" not emitting the correct spectrum? I dun have the equipments to do any test.

I just need to do a poll for a360we users to find out if their unit possesses/not possesses the silver chips. From there u will be able to analyze which unit is correct. Just simply visual check I need everyone's help with.
So how's does your array looks like?

Thank you.

Hello everybody! I m a newbie from HK.

Seems all of you are using APEX to control the A360. Just wanna know if it can be controlled by GHL profilux?

I just looked at the 4 360WE's I have sitting here and they're exactly like yours. 2 have all light colored chips and 2 have a few silver chips.
truthfully, its not something I'm concerned about. I'm gonna trust Kessil has their stuff together and if they don't"¦.I know they'll make it right.
enjoy your lights.

Hi Ragga. Thanks for taking the time n effort to verify for me. Appreciate that. In Singapore, price is abt 460usd per unit. So I just wanna be on the safe side.
Had checked out with kessil n good to go with my units.
Planning to get a apex next for the lights.

Thanks Ragga. One silly idea: can I use a rj45 to rj12 adapter to connect the profilux by using the cable which is designed for apex? I find it is 3.5mm to rj45,where'd profilux is using rj12.

I'm honestly not sure but would venture to say no as that only fixes one end of the cable. I'm not sure if the rj12 and rj45 share the same pinout on the end that plugs into your add-on device. also if its wired wrong you risk frying something in the controller. I would recommend asking in the same thread I posted or start a new thread in the profilux forum http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=527
my profilux has been bought but its not in my hands yet. If you ask this in a few weeks I'll be able to answer. LOL ;)
my plan is to use the Lbf-ap connection box to control dimming and color and let the power bar handle the on/off functions. (as gland is doing in the earlier linked thread) I'm not interested in cutting the plugs off my Kessil power supplies. If cutting the plugs off doesn't bother you then the EVG card is the easiest way to go.

No problem, your post had me curious so I had to look. I completely understand your apprehension. I'm going to control mine with a profilux and the lights and controller have been my biggest investments.
This hobby is somewhat like owning a boat. you know what boat stands for right?"¦.. Break Out Another Thousand :lolspin:

Hey guys I am considering a Kessil over my frag tank which is 8 inches high. Any recommendations. Is the A360 overkill or can I get by smaller version. Tank is 24x20x8.

Thanks for help.

The A360WE wouldn't be over kill at all. You could mount it 10" or more over the water to give you coverage and PAR.

How high are you guys/gals mounting your Kessil from the water? My tank is 24" deep and mine are 4-5" about the water. Just wanted some input.

I'm at 4.5" over a 24" tank and I get great SPS growth even on the 2" sandbed.

I'm guessing you keep them at 100% power? You like the 10k 14k or 20k look? I turn my dual full blue then back until I see the whites just come on. It's a good look for me.
