Kessil A360WE

This is 2 A360NEs over a 36x18x24 tank; ignore the shadow lines, the painter's tape grid for centering them was still up :) Also, cable management hadn't been done yet.

Thanks! Just FYI we didn't want to use the goosenecks (the tank is eurobraced) so the mounts are just 1/2" EMT conduit, bent and drilled for an eye bolt. We painted them with black appliance spray paint and attached them to the stand with pipe brackets (the ends rest on the floor). Was really easy and really cheap. :) We found some black plastic caps for furniture legs that fit on the open ends perfectly.

A tip from our LFS for height - get them centered, turn them on, and look for the light to start spreading where the waterline is/will be (you'll see a distinct line of light). That's where you want the height.

I have a 65 gallon tank (36x18x24) that I'm looking to buy kessil a360 for. My question is which model to go with. The wide or narrow? I'll be using two. Kessil recommended 2 wides. What is your take on this?

I agree with Kessil. 2 Wides for would be perfect. No need for the narrow's on a 24" deep tank.

Hi everyone..
Well i'm all most ready to pull the trigger on buying 3 kessil 360we lights for my 250 gal.
I am just concerned about how they would look over my 72L" x 25H" x 32W" tank.

Does anybody here have a similar tank with the kessils , that can share a pic of your set up ? I would greatly appreciate it...

Thanks,
Keith

Thanks. Was trying to make sure before I buy. I wanted to be able to keep a mixed reef. I've seen people use the narrows like the above poster. Didn't know if this was needed for my tank. I see theirs is also the same size. Was trying to wait for the new fixture from kessil but haven't heard anything new about it. That would be the kessil ap700. Was supposed to be out early part of 2015. Anybody hear anything?

I am running 4 of the 360we on my 48x24x24 120 gallon all inline. The very back of my tank is not as brightly lit. It also depends on your rockwork resulting in shadowing or complete blockage of the light. You may get away with 5 inline but I will bet you will likely need 6 of the 360we set up in pairs of 2.

I just bit the bullet and bought another a360, hoping the ap700 wasn't going to.be out in a week or two. Although it's msrp is $1000. I would be expecting it to come out within the next 2 months. I'm still happy with my 360s.

Kessils on big tanks?

Kessils on big tanks?

I hope it is ok to pop this question without hijacking the thread...forgive me please.... I am thinking about buying Kessils...but...I have a fairly
large tank at 8ft x 28deep x 24 high 280 gallon with sps and lps in it....
About 1/3 sps heading to 50% sps ....
I have been trying to convince myself to buy the Kessils because I like everything I see online about them BUTTTTT ***I cannot find a single
large tank on line using them where it shows sps corals colours popping!****
Yet, I can find SEVERAL Radion large tanks showing corals popping!

Is there anyone that has video or pics of a 200 Gallon or more reef using KEssils only that can forward it to me? I found a single decent large tank online but the guy was using NOT ONLY KESSILS so...lousy deciding factor.
I know the internet videos can be misleading but I want to prove to myself
that the Kessils have at least CLOSE to the same coral popping ability as
the Radions on a *large* tank and there is NOTHING ANYWHERE that has
convinced me so far...PLEASE PLEASE someone convince me via photos and or videos showing the KEssil light innnn the video or pic. Would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Tim

So I got my pair of brand new A360WEs yesterday. I mounted one and promptly dropped it in the tank less than 5 minutes later.

I removed it from the tank and rinsed it with fresh water, then took it apart and hosed it out with 91% isopropyl alcohol. After it dried off-- IT WORKED! :bounce3::bounce3:

Everything inside is covered with some sort of rubber coating. I certainly wouldn't say it's water proof, but it's definitely durable.

I'm not suggesting you try it. Really a terrible feeling seeing a $400 light go for a swim. I'm certain they're not waterproof, but mine survived a 5 second dip with no apparent problem.
