So, what's the verdict on the ap700? I'm looking to get 3 for a 78x36x27 inch mixed reef tank. I haven't seen them in person, but I'm hoping it's not just a blue disco ball with harsh shadows.

Right now, I'm running a 400W Reflux 12k. Can anyone compare?

IMO they are flat out the best LED fixtures right now. They are still developing and improving the app support, I'm using the iPhone beta app and it has worked very well. I love the slim sleek look, the shimmer, color blending, color, power, control, the Kessil Logic, I just think they are supper cool also!

Interesting...my Honda was designed in Japan, built in Canada, has parts from all over the world, and most assembled here are exported to the US.
Difficult to say sometimes what nationality many products actually are, other than the nameplate. I consider my Honda a Canadian product because it was actually built here. Japanese nameplate, but thats about it.

Oh, a company is the nationality were they are incorporated. Not where they make stuff, do most of their business, or design products.

Kessil does the same thing as Honda, but in reverse..so its a nuanced argument either way.
Like Apple products... built in a foreign country, all foreign labor, all foreign parts..but many consider the iPhone an American product. Depends on your point of view of what is actually "American".
Do you consider your Levi's that were made in Mexico an American product because it has an American name? Some do, I don't.

Even I was made in Norway and Germany, but assembled in America. All that matters is that I pay American taxes. Better than double Irish with a Dutch sandwich. Google it :)

American company, american design, american based. Would you say that Apple is Chinese?

Aaron

Yes, I would consider Apple products to be Chinese.
The design is done here, but little else. ALL of the cost of building the actual product is spent in China. Its all Chinese labor and all foreign parts...

Bottom line: Apple is an American company, of course, but their products are all made in China.
DiCon Kessil is an American company, of course, but all of their products are made in Taiwan.

I return to my example about blue jeans: Do you consider your Mexican made Levi's an American product?

As with many things, it depends on your point of view.

I said in my original post that most would not agree with me, but at least someone else knows where I'm coming from.

Heat lamps with UVA/UVB work better for turtles unless you have an outdoor enclosure for them. :wavehand:

I would recommend buying a diffuser for the heat lamp as turtles prefer less shimmer. Also an apex controller to ensure the lamp is tuned perfectly to bring out the optimal color in your turtle's shell. The lamp should be manufactured in Malaysia by an Italian company who employs U.S. Workers

I heard we're building a wall to keep all those illegal foreign turtles out. Those illegal hardshells are eating all our insects and raping all our frogs! This must stop!!

Ok question...

I have ramped up to 60% intensity and 65% color from 45% intensity and 40% color over the last several months. It is 2-360s over a 21" deep tank...8" off the water line.

All seems to being doing very well but I noticed that my branching frogspawn and green nepthea seem to open up more at the 45% intensity and tends to expand out instead of up at 60% intensity. The both tend to be near the mid to top part of the tank.

I am wondering if it is okay to allow it more intense light at the peak time of day even if both corals seem to be their most expansive at 6pm in the day when it drops to 45% intensity? Is 45% too low of an intensity for the peak of the day?
