Kessil Club

I'm running a 36x18x12 and have two A350w over it. I don't think two 160 would be enough for a 40 breeder

Awww man I just saw a YouTube vid with a guy only using 1 360we on his 40 breeder and it looked like it is covering it pretty good. I'm gonna try and find it again.

I've got two A360WE over my 36" long tank. The kessils will light 36 inches of tank if mounted high enough, but coverage for corals will be poor and the shadowing will be horrible. For anything over 24" of coverage I'd go for multiple fixtures of the A360 or A160 depending on the width and height of the tank.

O.k. Thanks so much for the clarification. I do think that I would have at least one of the islands with SPS on it. The other island would just be a small to add dimension maybe with some zoa's or something. But it looks like 2 160's would be the best bet. Are the 160's linkable as well? Thanks.

I'd say to be on the safe side go with 2 160's

Thanks for that reply. Those two corals (acan and neon trumpet)are the ones I'm stuggling with to find the right light to make them happy. Yours look in great health where you have them so if they keep that look you have most likely found it. What settings are you at?

Beautifull tank by the way .Everything looks real nice!

As far as setting i am not sure because i dont have a controller yet. I have both knob turned 3/4 of the way. Hopefully getting the kessil controller soon.

I've got zoa's in the corner stretching for more light, with the lights 9" from the water. I really only wanted to put one light on the tank, but it wasn't enough light so I purchased a second and I'm not keeping any SPS.

In my opinion depending on what you're trying to keep, if it's 24" or lower then one Kessil 360WE or 2 160WEs, if it's more than 24" up to 30-36 inches then you're probably looking at two Kessil 360WEs or 3-4 Kessil 160WEs. Just my opinion if you're trying to avoid shadowing.

Ok sounds convincing enough. I think I might just 2 160we and then just add 1 360we or another 2 160we when I upgrade to the 80.
Just basic thinking and hobbyists choice of shadowing. You as an individual have to make that decision. Looks like I'm going to have to add 2 more to my system.

when I upgrade to the 80.

For this reason I would get the a360we which are 90 watt versus the 160we at 40 watt. You can always tune them down on a smaller tank. IMO the 24 inch spread of useful light is exaggerated. I run 4 of the a360we on my 48" long tank mostly because my rockwork is not a flat horizontal plate. If you are going to keep the 40b running and buy new lights for the 80 then different story.

I have 3 360w over my 180g and growing SPS and LPS well. My zoas are surviving but not thriving but not sure it the lights.

Each a360we light would cover 24 inches. I would recommend 3 so you don't have a lot of shadows on the edges. I ran 3 on a 72x24x24 and got excellent coverage
