Anyone ever try to connect or have opinion on connecting my a160w to my a360we which is connected to a kessil controller using 1 program setting for both lights despite being different models with different power and intensity

Need some help

I am running a Kessil 360we over a 5 gallon tank with SPS and Acans. What is a good setting for the intensity and color. It is 6 inches above the water, evrything is coloring just fine. I don't want to burn the corals out. I have the Acans at the bottom and various levels of the tank. The SPS are all towards the top, mostly on a frag rack. Any suggestions?

It should work just fine, just a signal to tell the lights what to do. I dont know if they will color match perfectly, but obviously the intensity will be different.
 
BRS changed from LED to T5s and their nem tank looks much improved. Does anyone have photos of nems under kessil for an extended period of time? I've had some under my 160 for over a year and wanted to know if the 360 would improve my nems or just look the same? I am upgrading currently and bought a T5 coralife because I was worried:

This is a great topic. I have 2 kessil 360's over my 60G mixed reef. I am currently having a problem with my acros being brown. They blue tips and growing good but the rest of it is all brown. Im currently ramping them up to 85% intensity at highest day and 70% color at highest day. The acros are about 14 inches from the lights. Im not too sure if their not getting enough light or night. These settings seem to be in the sweet spot so it could be nutrient levels in the tank but just wanted to hear other thoughts. Thanks guys.

Are you sure they are not brown with blue tips originally? If it is growing n has growth tips then light levels should be ok.

I have multiple under AI with no issues, just switched over to kessil and I anticipate only good things. I saw the BRS pics and wonder what happened that was a train wreck of condition, hope it happened really fast because a store with there resources should never grow frankenanemones like that.

They used to be green when I got them. They slowly brown out and now stay brown but grow good. I kept my intensity at 85 at the peak day and just put the color down to 35 at the peak and see if they react good to that.

I had one kessil 360w over a 60g cube, I had the hardest time with the simplest SPS.. like you said, the tips looked good, but brown the rest of the way.. one of my problems was the shadowing effect, and intensity. I never really found a sweet spot, unlike you.

Nitrate is 0 but the last time i tested phosphate it was high around .20 but I havent been able to test in a bit because I ran out of the test. The phosphate has always been a bit of an issue in my tank the last year. I run BRS gfo and do 5 gallon water change almost twice a week.

I wouldn't worry about PAR. The Kessils never show great PAR numbers but coral growth is great under them which is where the whole PAR vs PUR debate comes into play. The strength of the Kessils is in the 420-460nm range where corals get most of their needed photosynthetic radiation. That wavelength doesn't read well on PAR meters. The Apogee MQ500 dues a better job in that range.but PAR doesn't tell the whole story.

At 30" deep, you will have to place less light demanding corals down low and or run the intensity up higher. In my 24" deep display, I've never exceeded 75% intensity. If I had a 30" deep display, I might be running them a bit higher. If you really want to grow light demanding corals at all depths, then the 360N's may be a better choice or at least a mix of 360WE's and 360N's on the perimeter.

Here is my 2' + diameter BTA under Kessils and only Kessils. I've had this nem for over 10 years and it's done very well under the Kessils.

Was just curious. I don't run them, but a friend does. He had had little growth with corals liar in his tank. He recent moved a few pieces to a higher position in his tank and has seen some growth.
