Had a pair of Helfrichi's firefish over a year and a half until now.I dont know if a type of worm killed it or not but, it was alive and fine this morning.Come mid morning its swimming irradic.I tried getting him out after seeing something on its face what looked like fluke worms or something.Died within a half hr of me noticing something was wrong,it was at that point I was able to get a better look at the fish while grabbing the camera in disbelief.

Yeah it sucks they were my pride fish.It just seems like everytime things are going well in this hobby ,something bad has just got to happen,It never ceases to amaze me how that works.
And, its never something cheap or not time consuming to fix.
I dont want to start a complaining thread but, dam, really,,,I mean come on really.

Hey Steve, that sucks, it definately looks like bristleworm bristles which is odd. Perhaps it went after a worm and got a face full of them. Sorry to hear. I will have to bring you some good frags to cheer you up ;-). Hang in there, remember stuff like this happens in the wild ALL the time.

Firefish like to go in very tight caves or holes in the rock, especially at night or scared. He may have found an unexpected cave mate that poked him in self defense.
