Anyone ever heard of a Queen conch attacking a Mexican Turbo snail??
Just dropped 10 new turbo snails into my 150 and 1 was attacked by my conch never heard or seen anything like it.. Watched to conch come up outta the sand (it was under neath) and latched onto the Mexican and messed him up I think may have killed him I watched for like 30 Minuit expecting him to be released but was like trying to pry him outta shell or something?? I broke up the fight LOL and the Mexican hasn't come outta his shell or tried to even open up and come out for like 5 hours now? Just weird, I seen one other had this experience and was told its impossible and never could happen? Had I not watched this I would have said the same but now im just shocked and surprised.. Strange any one else see or hear anything like this?? :sad2:

Well just looked at images of a crown and it is very similar... But not sure if it is or isn't I was told it was a Bahamian conch but that it was reef safe?? I haven't noticed any other confrontations or sand lying corals being effected by it but it definitely resembles the description .it was like 2 minuits up and on the turbo snail and usually I never see the thing (doing its job out of sight) but I donno, if he is the menace that He might be, I have temporarily exiled him to my refugium where he will probally do well for the fuge?? I have 30-40 half shell snails down there but they are mainly oon the glass and in the cheato so hopefully he doesnt obliviate them??
I have attached a pic of him I think you are correct in the crown id but please let me know what you think thanks so much sushi girl

not a true Conch. Commonly called a crowned conch or king conch.
This is a snail pred.

IME Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) is a herbivore/detrivore and doesn't bury itself in sand.

Prolly a blessing as I dont mess with the sand bed in my fuge at all so he'll prolly do very well for himself and the fuges maintenance .. I hope...

How do these crown conchs kill their prey? the turbo snail he latched onto has had his flap sealed tight since i separated him and hasnt opened? I took him out and his body didnt fall out or anything still closed tight?? is he dead or in shock??? has he been poisoned or something???
