Krylon Fusion

I plan on redoing my tank soon. In the sense that I will be removing my SB for a finer grain size, re-aquascaping, scraping coraline algae off the back, painting the back from black to blue, and was wondering how safe it would be to paint my overflow box.

My overflow box is a DIY that I did not build. Its made of three pieces of cut acrylic and painted with some spray paint (Im not sure which brand) Right now, there are some spots where rocks have scraped off the paint and I was wondering if I just resprayed with Krylon Fusion, would it be safe for my tank? I would, of course let the tank dry overnight and make sure it didn't smell like paint before putting water back in.

Yeah its safe. Many people have used it inside on overflows and plumbing.

I painted my DIY PVC overflow with black Krylon Fusion and have not seen any adverse effects from it.

You should probably give it a light sanding to remove calcium deposits etc. before you repaint. If you spray over organic matter the paint will eventually flake off in those areas.
But yes Krylon Fusion is the ticket.:dance:

give it a *good* cleaning or sanding, I had some flake off in the past because I wanted to get something done quick.

If you can... paint the inside. Snails will pull the paint right off. I just setup my tank last week and a turbo has already messed up the paint on the return pump pvc

How long should I wait to put water back in?

I placed my parts in the sun for a couple days to dry/cure. Not very scientific but it worked.

+1 for the prep work being very important. The surface needs to be rough to allow the paint to get a good hold. I used a plain plastic scouring pad (no soap) to knock the shine off anything I painted.
