Nice pics. Maybe one of these days I will have some time to do the same. Maybe I will just start another......wink wink......You should too, maybe a 90 gallon. LOL

great shots.
Sorry to hear about the cbb. This happens quite often in that they do not usually have a long life in captivity. PaulB recommends that you feed a cbb blackworms for a longer life.

i tried feeding the CBB blackworms for a month and he just didnt take to them, he ate frozen np.

I had your same bulb configuration and swapped out the super-actinic for a fiji purple. Much happier. You may want to check it out. A good bit more par as well.

thx sbjim, i have seen that the fiji has way better par aswell but i usually buy extra when buying bulbs and i ordered before rechecking current par values(went with what grim recommended 2 years ago)

Its going strong, lost a couple of the deep water acros and my huge purple ora cap when my calc went a little low last month, bleh btw the nicest corals are usually the slowest growers and delicate lol.

My fault tho i added 12 new corals early in the summer and didnt readjust the calc dosage. i also moved most of my lps to my 40 breeder. will try to get pics up sooner or later been a busy summer :)

Same here ive barely had time to get my water changes in and feed the fish. Hopefully i'll get some more time here soon. If u need a frag of purple cap ever i have a few layin around

Hi Kudora---look forward to seeing the updated pics too:wavehand:

Hello Kudora, well after waiting only 2 1/2 years I can finally post here in RC. I will use my first post here on your thread since I have spent sooooooooooooooo many hours reading and rereading it. I hope to start on the stand for my 60X18.5X19 RR tank soon, once I do I will probably start a build thread. Thanks again for documenting your experiences here for others to follow, I know it's greatly appreciated by many.

Kudora,

Do you think you could have mounted a 60" retrofit kit under your canopy or were you pretty much limited to the 48" kit.

i could fit the 60" if needed, they are usually a little less then 60", i would measure and see how much room you actually have with the lid down.

Hey Kudora how's everything going, you haven't posted in a while. I was wondering if you ever got the stand for your 60" tank built, I'm interested in what your ideas are for it. I'm in the process of putting my ideas for a stand down on paper, I'm going 60" long, 22" front to back and 34" tall so I can place the sump Marc is building for me.

Building a new stand and redoing my 84 gallon is on my to do list, i have had this tank up 3 years now. that sounds great, the more room the better, i like the 22" front to back and 34" sounds about right. The only thing i will do different with the new stand is i will make a skin for the stand this time. that way if i ever need to switch something out i can.

What do you mean skin, something you can detach and pull away? I'm thinking of maybe doing something like Sisterlimonpo did on his stand to give me full access to the stand, soooooooooooooo many ideas bouncing inside my head lol.

On another note, too bad you aren't closer, I would have given you the stand that came with my tank since I'm not going to use it, the stand has 27" of room inside, top to bottom, 60" long and 18" front to back.

Well i have some news to bad its nothing good. First off let me thank my reef buddy and rl friend Demonic, he really came through when i needed help. now for the sad part, i had to evacuate my home 2 days ago with because of flooding, I was able to move everything out of my house in about 7 hours. I had to take down my 40 breeder and my 84 gallon tanks because all the utilities had to be shut off since i live 1 block from the river; the tanks would have been flooded with river water. I was able to capture every fish, urchins, most inverts and saved most of the corals. Demonic is doing a great job keeping my stock alive. will update again when i have a little more time and waiting to see how bad the crest is :(

Thx

Kudora

Thats so horrible!

Its absolutely amazing that you were able to get your fish out of there in time, some of those floods can move pretty fast. You're also incredibly lucky to have such a good reefing friend. Keep us updated, I hope your house wasn't damaged too severely!
