Fantastic job you have done on your tank. It is truly very inspirational. Cant wait for it to mature and see the small colonies grow out.
Hello George,
Do your self a fav and go to Reef Frontiers and look at Billwann's 20,000 gallon build thread. He is a master craftsman and builds some killer skimmers and calk. reactors and does nothing but high quality and know's his stuff. I think you will be glad you did![]()
Your build is truly a work of art!!!
George Ask Reefski if he still have his.
For your query about Calcium Reactors... Size doesn't really matter. An efficient design will produce adequate calcium. The size only effects how often you have to open it and add more.
For super efficiency with a small footprint look for a fluidized design.

Wow George, the video you posted was AMAZING!! I showed it to all of my friends and they were also soooo impressed! I keep watching it over and over! What is the next step with your tank???
George
Reef tank to do list will never ends and congratulation on the future Frags ( it's as expensive as this hobby!lol)
Have you ever checked out Indo-Pacific Sea Farms, they have different macro algaes in there, some that even provide you with food for your tangs. I have heard pretty good things about them from the a few people that have used them.

George,
Nice build! It's great being the construction kingpin when you're doing something along the lines of what you've got here. I have a few comments and questions
-I completely second what BigOldReef has to say. Fluid reactors are fantastic. I have a Deltec 601S. I have a 400 gallon tank, and this more than does the job, but with a bigger tank, I would consider their larger model. *Although I'm not 100% satisfied with the reactor (they put a POS pump on it), there are other choices*. As with any reactor you need to ensure that they are actually working. If you don't pay attention to your C02 bottle, your effluent Alk and or your inter chamber pH, you will never have a consistent chemistry situation in a large tank like that.
-I would also strongly suggest that you run Ozone with a controller to measure the ORP parameters.
-Do yourself a huge favor, please dip and or QT your new corals. You DO NOT want to end up with montipora eating nudi's or Acropora eating flat worms. In a system that large, getting rid of them is impossible and it will create a daily maintenance program, while you will never be able to get ahead of the the nudibranchs.
I am setting up a 10/4/3 foot tank in the next year and I've started to brainstorm.
At this point in time, what do you think of your closed loop. I am not certain if I am going to use a CL vs a CSD. How effective is the flow.
Where did you get your Vat for your saltwater?
How is the fan controlling the humidity? What is the noise rating for it? Would you recommend it? Do you measure your humidity and if so, what is it in the fish room?
What are you doing with that crazy rubbermaid container with all of those valves. Why do you need so many feeds into it.
Thanks! Great set up.
Looks good
Looks like you've done quite a bit of collecting since the club meeting at your house. Looks great!
